Term 17 Round I: Feu vs Montagnard

Professor Bowen was not very happy that Montagnard and Feu had to play against each other for the very first game of the season. Tensions had been high during the final round of last season, mostly due to Montagnard's poor behavior.

But she had hope for today. It was bright on the pitch and there was barely any wind to interrupt the players' performance. It was anyone's game under these conditions.

Professor Bowen looked at the two teams gathered on the pitch. "Let's not get too worked up today. These games are just for fun," she said, trying to be as subtle as possible. "Green, Banken, shake hands."

Once everyone was in their positions, Bowen released the game balls.

Lucie wasn't very happy to have to face Montagnard again after the attitude of the team's captain last year. It may have been satisfying to beat them but it didn't mean Lucie liked playing the other team. Give her Nuage or Cerisier any day over the bloody Montagnard team with their stupid baby captain with the idea she was better than everyone else. She held out her hand to shake the hand of the other captain with a neutral look on her face, confident her team would win again. There had only been one lose for her team and that'd been the year Lucie wanted to forget for other reasons.

She turned from Green to her team and gave them a nod. She pushed off with a shout. "GO FEU!" Professor Bowen wouldn't think that was getting too worked up would she? Well no matter if she did. Lucie was just encouraging her team. They were good and she knew it. With her position in front of the goals she readied herself for any Montagnard players who might be lucky enough to get the quaffle before her own chasers. She didn't have to worry about it as a Feu chaser got in first and was headed toward the goals posts at the opposite end of the pitch.

Feu: 10
Montagnard: 0

Isobel was not sad about losing last year. It made her angry, but anger usually fueled her. And as soon as she got word that she'd be playing Feu for the first round, instead of Nuage, she upped her own individual practice time. She was going to catch the snitch.

She shook Lucie's hand quickly, then turned to her team and winked. It didn't mean anything tricky, it was just a normal Isobel encouragement.

She pushed off the ground and ascended, roling her eyes at Lucie's cheer. I am ready to win this game she thought as she flew to a good spot to watch the game and look for the snitch.

So far things weren't looking so good for Montagnard. Feu had already scored on them once, now twice. It seemed like Montagnard's Chasers wouldn't be getting an in at all, as Feu scored again.

Feu: 30
Montagnard: 0

Sophie was positively excited for the game. Whatever anxiety she had over her very first match as commentator was vanquished by anticipation. Adorned in red and dark blue head-to-toe, it was clear who the first year was biased towards. She giggled, outstretching her hands to the shining sun before grabbing the mic. "Hello and welcome to the first round of Flu-right, Professor, I meant Feu versus Montagnard. Whoopsies," she giggled. 

"So, although Captain Lulu-no, Lucie is pushing her team, Captain Isobel is extremely determined yet humble," Sophie declared loudly. Unfortunately, Feu had scored several times already. "30-0 to Feu," she commented with a loud yawn. It wasn't looking good, but she was going to boost Montagnard's morale any way she could. "Come on! Montagnard Chasers are getting closer to the goalposts!" She exclaimed encouragingly. "I'd like to see a bit more Beater action!" she shrilled loudly. "Doesn't the cloud above Seeker Beauregard's head look a bit dark?" she noted with an air of mystery. "Perhaps it's a bad omen."

Montagnard: 0

As soon as he was in the sky, Gregory was chasing bludgers. But he stopped and did a double-take at the announcer's words. Was she even talking about the game at all? He looked down towards her and saw that she wearing all red and purple.

No wonder she was singing Isobel's praises, the announcer was Montagnard. He shook his head. "Bowen must really be desperate," he said to no one in particular.

He turned his attention back to the game. He needed to focus on helping his team defeat Montagnard, and that wasn't going to happen if he was just hovering like a target.

When he finally had a chance to hit a bludger, he aimed it at an opposing chaser. It didn't end up very close to them, but they dropped the Quaffle anyway, allowing Feu to swoop in, retrieve it, and score once more.

Feu: 40
Montagnard: 0

"Humble?" Lucie asked and shook her head. Messing up names on purpose was something which hadn't bothered Lucie. She could go deal with it. But to describe someone as something that they were clearly the opposite of was taking this whole biased toward Montagnard thing a little too far. Humble was the last thing Lucie would ever describe Isabel Green. Things were much better without an announcer.

The quaffle coming near the goals was quickly dealt with and Lucie was glad to see it going back down the opposite end of the pitch. So far Montagnard hadn't managed to get past her but wasn't going to let her guard down. They weren't good but if she didn't focus they could get sneaky. "Keep up the good work Feu," she called to her team encouragingly. Her eyes slipped to where her seeker was and Lucie had to stop herself from thinking that the announcer was right about the cloud. there is no cloud, she told herself and cursed her lack of concentration as the quaffle slipped past her.

Feu: 50
Montagnard: 10

Sophie was saying good things about her? Isobel really did have that girl wrapped around her finger. It was a great feeling. But she was, in the same moment, annoyed at Sophie botching Lucie's name. It was a tad too disrespectful for Isobel's taste. She'd have to knock some sense into that girl after she won this game.

She blocked out everything around her. Isobel had learned better strategies since last season and she planned to use them.

Her eyes zeroed in on the snitch and she accelerated, reaching out for it, only to see it dart up and over her head. "Dang it!" she whispered. It was practically flying towards Bo. Hopefully he didn't catch it.

Isobel took the opportunity to look at the score. Montagnard was beginning to catch up.
