Skipping Rocks Empty Skipping Rocks

Post by Guest Sun Jul 07, 2013 9:51 pm

Charon loved this school, it was so cool and it was perfect. He sighed softly and picked up a rock throwing it side arm, watching it skip across the water. He smiled as it made the soft tick as it bounced up and down along the lake before making a final splash. He grinned and thought about the quidditch tryout he'd attended earlier, really hoping he made the team. He had an awesome tryout, but obviously he had the nag at the back of his mind that said he wasn't making the team. Not to mention how excited he was to be in Cerisier. The people in the house were really cool, and he had fun meeting his housemates.

Louise sighed and kicked the rocks into the water of silver, making it splash and creating ripples in the water. Like it was opening little portals to other worlds. She smiled at the though and turned to see Charon standing there. She recognized him from the Quidditch tryouts. She walked towards him and smiled. "Hi..uh...I'm Louise.." She spoke in a light and airy tone. He had seemed nice when she had saw him the first time, but she hadn't had a chance to talk to him, but she wanted to. "You're Charon right? She smiled remembering his name from the try-outs. She laughed a little and looked at him. "Skipping stones?" She asked. "You..know..stones are a way of looking for knowledge...if you skip it..knowledge will come to you." She smiled sweetly.

He smiled brightly at her. "I am Charon." He said softly, skipping another rock. "You were great at tryouts." He complimented. "I've never seen anyone fly that well. It was like you knew exactly where the snitch was going to be." He really was amazed by her ability. He really hoped she'd make the team if he did, it'd make him feel more secure knowing there was a good seeker who might end the game faster. "I wish I could play seeker, but I'd probably go mad and end up chasing after a hummingbird thinking it was a snitch." He laughed at his little comment. "The sad thing is it's so true though. I'm such a keeper and not a seeker, but you're definitely making the team."

The girl chuckled a little. "Oh..you're just saying that" She smiled at him. He seemed like a nice person. "I'm sure you're gonna be on the team." She encourage. "But anyways...call me Lucy...I really don't like the name Louise...it kinda seems old and boring y'know." She giggled. "Do you think I could call you Char?" She laughed  and walked over towards his side. She picked up a stone and tried to skip it, but instead just plopped in the water. "Aw..." She said a little disappointed and looked at his skipping eight or nine times.. "I've never been able to skip stones..." She sighed looking down. She smiled up at him. "But you seem to be good at it, Mr. Stone Skipper!" She giggled a little a the funny nickname, but it was all in good fun. She could tell by his face that he knew that too.

"If I can call you Lucy, you can call me Char." Charon smiled brightly at her before noticing her inability to skip the rock. "Here let me teach you to do it right." He said. He moved behind her and gently putting his hand on her arm, she was throwing the rock down hill as opposed to across. He brought her arm back so it was sideways, waiting to see if she'd get uncomfortable, when she didn't he guided her through the motion of throwing the rock sidearm and grinned as it went about seven skips, he pulled away and handed her a rock. "Now let me see you try."

Louise looked down when he put his hand on her arm and guided her arm in a way to show her how to throw the stone correctly. Suddenly she found herself being asked by him to try it out. Taking that is a challenge, she gladly accepted. "Okay! Challenge accepted" She giggled mischievously. "Okay whoever wins and gets the most skips gets to throw the other into the lake. Deal?" She smirked. She usually never lost a bet. So, that being said, she was confident that she'd beat him. Soon there'd be a soaked Charon and a laughing Lucy.

After he nodded to her and shook her hand on it the challenge began. Doing exactly as he said she took a deep breath and tossed the stone. Bounce. Bounce. Bounce. Bounce. Bounce. Bounce. Plunk. It fell into the water on the 7th one. She smirked at him, hoping the whole idea of the challenge would make him choke. Trying to look as innocent as possible she grinned sweetly at him, it showed her girlish personality..but also showed her childish and devilish charm.

There was something about her grin that caught Charon off kilter. He knew he could easily skip the rock about ten times without trying to hard, but he wanted to lose, just so she could win, but that would mean he'd be soaked. So he decided she'd just have to get soaked too. He wound his arm up into the motion and looked very intense, but only intense because he was aiming for five skips, something that looked like he tried hard, but still couldn't beat her, so he put a bit more weight on his shot. Skip, skip, skip, skip, skip, oh god he hoped it would stop, and thankfully it only skipped one more time stopping at six skips. He groaned. "So close..."

Louise bit her lip as he finally tossed his stone onto the lake. She was a little nervous, she wasn't too keen on getting wet today, but she was pretty sure that she could win. the rock skipped. Once...twice..three times...four...five...then....six...the plunk...it fell into the water. She heard him groan but then again she was too busy doing her victory dance to really hear what he was saying. When she was done. She smirked and in he went into the lake.

She started to laugh after he fell in 'Kaboom! SPLASH!' she wasn't laughing at him, more whole heartedly. She didn't want to make her laughing sound mean, because that wasn't her intentions at all. She felt her stomach starting to cramp, she leaned forward bending over, trying to contain her laughter. She knew she probably looked funny, but it was because his face was hilarious. His...cute face..was hilarious.

Her laugh was positively adorable, well she was in general...anyway he grinned at her position of being off balance and Charon pulled her into the lake with him, laughing now too. When her head came back up he smirked. "I didn't want to be the only one having fun in the water. Besides after riding your broom that fast, you earned a good cool down." He teased her. He sighed softly and shook his hair out, spraying her with water accidentally, which made him laugh again, grinning widely. There was something about this girl that just made Charon smile. "The water is awesome, when I would train for quidditch with dad, I'd always go swimming after." He told her, stretching.

Lucy gasped as she rose from the water and started coughing when she had surfaced. She looked at him. He was saying something about his father and him practicing Quidditch, but she wasn't completely concerned with that. She couldn't swim very well...another reason she'd hoped that she'd win the bet. "I...can't swim very well" She said trying to swim. She moved as fast as she could towards the boy and grasped on to him. Scared she was going to go under. She was sure that he'd help her though...he was that kind of guy. She bit her lip and held on tight to him. "Don't let go...please...please....don't....please....don't let..go.." She said scared. She clung on for dear life. "I can't...I don't want to...drown.." She bit her lip hard.

Charon's eyes widened, he had no idea she couldn't swim. He held her close and gently carried her out of the water, setting her down softly, before sitting with her. "I am so so so so so so so sorry. I had no idea you couldn't swim." He apologized, feeling horrible that she probably hated his guts now. He'd made his second real friend, and he'd nearly drowned her. He bit his lip, ready for her to scream at him for being such a ninny. Why did he care so much about her opinion of him anyway? He barely knew her up until this point, despite being in a few classes with her. It was probably just because there was a good chance they both made the team, yea, that was it, yea...he was bothered that a teammate already didn't like him.Charon groaned inwardly, he had quit the ability to ruin everything he thought, skipping a stone hard, making it go nearly seventeen skips.

Lucy looked at him and hugged him tightly. "Thanks for saving me though.." She spoke softly and bit her lip pulling away. He was a nice guy and they had a few classes together and probably would both end up on the Quidditch team. Sighing she looked up into his eyes. "I'm gonna go dry off. Thanks for the challenge." She said and smiled prettily at him. "It was fun." She giggled at him. he looked little confused by her, and he had every right to be confused. "I'll see you later, Char." She smiled and walked off.

As she was heading away from him she sighed. Why did she feel this way about him. It was weird...they had just met but she felt something growing...something she'd never felt before...something...new.

Charon was glad she walked off because he was blushing madly.  He'd never had whatever this sensation in the pit of his stomach she gave him was. He would definitely be sitting with her in classes from now on, he wanted to get to know her extremely closely, no, had too. She was just too amazing not to. He watched her walk off until out of sight and stood up to go find a towel. When he got one he toweled off and sighed happily, this school was even better than expected. He decided to write to his mum about his encounter with Lucy.

"Dear Mum,

I met a new girl today. She's amazing, she tried out for seeker like Uncle Jake used to play, she was so fast on a broom, I've never seen anything like it, she's definitely making the team, oh, I did really good too.  She's super nice and in a few of my classes. I really hope I get to know her well, oh I almost forgot, her name is Lucy. How are things over there?

With love,
Charon Michael Alexander Winthrop"
