Term 17 Round II: Cerisier vs Nuage Empty Term 17 Round II: Cerisier vs Nuage

Post by Professor Bowen Mon Jan 19, 2015 2:04 pm

The months of each school year seemed to fly by. Professor Bowen felt like just yesterday, there were red and brown leaves being picked up by the wind and carried across the castle grounds. And the fall had given way to a picturesque winter.

There was currently an even coating of snow on everything outdoors and snow was lightly falling. It was still decent Quidditch weather. She reminded the players to wear plenty of layers.

When all the players were on the field she started to speak. "Everybody, remember to stay warm and have fun. Armstrong, Miller, shake hands please. It's time to start."

Once everyone was in position, Bowen blew her whistle and released the game balls.

Sophie Owens is the announcer. The game will be locked on January 26, 2015.

Although the snow was beautiful, Kayla would have preferred sun. She was bundled up in layers, not so much that it would deter her from catching the Snitch. This game would likely be more enjoyable than her last. She'd never played Cerisier before but she heard Autumn was a good opponent. One who didn't have a big ego at that.

She grinned and shook Autumn's hand. "Good luck." Her team had practiced hard and they were ready to put that into play. She herself had improved, too. She was more nimble on her broom. And the Beaters had toned down the aggression. Once the whistle blew, Kayla wasted no time in kicking off into the air. She would have to stay on the move, but she learned not to follow every little sign or glimpse of gold she saw.

She flew above the game, placing herself so she could see everything going on and the Snitch, without possibly hindering the game. She also kept an eye on Anha, but she was going to do her own thing. The buzzer sounded, indicating that Cerisier had made the first goal. "Come on guys," she yelled to her team encouragingly. "We can do this!"

Autumn wasn't sure how she felt about flying in the snow. She'd done it before, and it wasn't fun. Short of putting on a ski mask, there was no way to keep your face warm. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad. It was only a little snow. But regardless, she hoped this would be a quick game.

"You, too!" Autumn agreed while shaking Kayla's hand.

Autumn took off into the sky and hit the first bludger she saw. It didn't hit anyone, but it scared someone into dropping the Quaffle. One of Cerisier's Chasers flew off with it, leaving his fellow Chasers behind and consfused, and scored.

"Stop showing off!" Autumn called. She was tempted to hit a bludger at him herself, but he would get his eventually, she knew of it.

Montagnard wasn't playing, so Sophie was already bored by this game. Plus it was freezing, and Sophie was rushed to only spend twenty minutes piecing together a decent outfit. She was sure she looked horrible and just wanted the game to get done with. However as the Professor was talking, her eyes shifted to Kayla. She remembered Isobel disliking her. And Isobel was usually right, especially about people. She didn't recall much about Autumn, except she was the best on her young team.

"And Cerisier's young Chasers are beating Nuage's supposedly more experienced Chasers by 20-0. Go ickles!" she giggled into the mic. "Clearly Captain Kayla spends more time yelling than actually helping her team and catching the Snitch. Just my observations," she simpered.

The next few minutes had the game move by quickly. Nuage started catching up. Sophie didn't really have anything against either team. She surprised herself by actually starting to enjoy the game and all the different strategic positions. "And Nuage closes in on both sides of the goal..." Whether it was enough to beat Cerisier, Sophie didn't know.

Did I just get called an "ickle"? Autumn thought. She hadn't been called an ickle since she was eleven years old! Or did the announcer mean her Chasers? Cerisier's Chasers were a second year and two third years, which were older than the announcer. Autumn found it ridiculous.

And the Nuage players weren't all first years. And Kayla wasn't yelling at anyone. Who had told her that?

Autumn smacked a bludger away from herself and toward a Nuage Chaser. It might have connected, but she wasn't quite sure.

Autumn then went after a Bludger that was following Cerisier's Seeker. She smacked it away, then looked at the score, pleased to see that Cerisier was still leading in the game.

Kayla rolled her eyes at the announcer. She was just being immature. She had seen her with Isobel a few times, so maybe she was just one of her minions. It didn't matter to Kayla. Her Chasers were making a comeback. Once again they were getting closer to the goalposts. It was hard not to intervene, especially as captain. However Kayla knew it wasn't her job and she had her own important position. When the Snitch bolted her way she soared out for it. The little golden ball escaped, but at that second the buzzer rang. Nuage had scored, resulting in a tie. "Good job team!" she called out encouragingly.

Too soon in what seemed only a few seconds later, Cerisier scored. "Drat." It was disappointing, as if every time Nuage started to gain on them Cerisier pulled ahead. She wasn't going to call her team out for it, though. They could still pull ahead. She just had to find the Snitch.

Autumn had her eye on the score. Her Chasers were doing better, it appeared, but so were Nuage's. She could tell that this would be a close game.

At this point, Autumn wasn't as worried about her Chasers. She had exchanged glances with the other Beater, which meant you protect them, I have the Seeker.

She heard the bell chime again and saw that Nuage and Cerisier were at a draw. Autumn hit another bludger, just as the bell chimed again. Phew she thought in relief. Cerisier had scored again, getting them ahead of Nuage by ten points again. "Keep it that way, guys!" she called, smiling.

Sophie yawned and twisted her scarf, she was seriously bored. She wondered if Isobel was somewhere in the crowds. Or maybe her time was too valuable to watch this game. She didn't blame her. She would catch her up on it later and tell her all about how horrible Kayla was. "It looks like Nuage will be absolutely overjoyed to be tied," she smirked loudly, "but they're having quite a hard time with that." Not that Cerisier was amazing or anything, they were only winning by ten. The stupid constant praising from both captains to their teams every second was annoying her. At least Isobel didn't need to constantly stroke her team's ego. This was a game, a battlefield, not a damn hippie compliment show off.

"Nuage scores, making the score tied. As if we haven't seen that already. Perhaps the Cerisier keeper is doing this on purpose," she suggested with an airy laugh. Her eyes shifted to the Seekers, hoping one of them would catch the Snitch and get it over with. "And there seems to be a battle between the Seekers for the little gold ball. Ooh, the drama," she giggled, actually interested.

Nuage and Montagnard were tied. And it honestly looked like everyone had started to halfheartedly play. It was really up to the Seekers at this point, so she didn't blame them. "Keep going," she called encouragingly. The snow had started falling more heavily now. Autumn couldn't see much of anything, so she could only hope that Cerisier's Seeker was getting closer to wining the game.

Autumn quickly knocked a bludger away from herself. She hadn't seen or heard the thing following her, so she assumed someone had hit it at her.

Then, Autumn heard the ending bell. Who had caught the snitch?

Kayla stayed focused on the Snitch. It was hard for her to ignore her team. However they were tied, and she would benefit them more by catching the Snitch. She blocked out all surroundings and concentrated solely on the golden ball. She was getting closer to it. Her broom wouldn't fail her now. She was within reach. The other Seeker was nowhere near.

"Got it!" Kayla pulled out triumphantly, holding up the Snitch. She was so excited she forgot to brake at the end of her descent. She tumbled onto the grass, getting snow all over her coat. Thankfully her broom stayed intact. She laughed as her team landed safely and pulled her up. It was her first win, she barely cared that she her clothes were wet. "Good work, everyone," she congratulated her team. "Let's get inside." She smiled at Autumn too, from the other side of the field.
