Dirty Paws Empty Dirty Paws

Wolfie had been daydreaming and staring out the window during class when he had first spotted it. The sight of it was entirely un-mistakable to the boy who's obsession with dogs ran deep. He couldn't bare to sit still the rest of class and as soon as they were let out, the shaggy haired boy dashed his way to the outdoors.

Fortunately, the small dog was still roaming around where he had last seen it. It bore no collar and looked as if he had never been groomed before. Wolfie concluded it was a stray and after watching it for about twenty minutes, he finally approached it. He kneeled down to the dog's height and offered his hand for it to smell. Wolfgang often made acquaintances with the stray dogs back home so he wasn't afraid. The dog sniffed and then licked his hand and allowed him to pet it. Wolfgang laughed as the dog turned onto it's back to allow him to rub his belly. "Good doggy!" He cooed, already falling for the wayward pooch. He suddenly realized he was at school and that his parents weren't around to say no to him keeping the dog. Sure, it was against school rules to have a dog as a pet but him and his roommate were in the business of trouble-making, so he was sure Cameron wouldn't mind their new roommate.

Wolfie cradled the small dog before wrapping it in the cloak of his uniform. It looked pretty obvious that he was carrying something in his uniform, especially with his altered cautious walk, but at least no one would be able to tell it was a dog right off the back. Wolf made it to the entrance of the school before he ran into a familiar face. "Cameron! Just the boy I needed to see! Do me a favor and help me get this back to our dorm?" He'd explain the situation once they got there.

Cameron liked being a second year, he was learning so much . He also liked his room arrangements with his long lost best friend. They were best friends once again since they had met once again. Things were great for the second year but he had been thinking a lot about his real family and what they might be doing. Why was he feeling this way now? He hadn't thought about it before. But now it took over his mind like a sickness took over the body of its victim.

He needed a break from it all so he decided it would be best to go for a walk. But as he was exiting, Wolf was entering. And stopping his friend from going anywhere. The young boy raised an eyebrow at his friend. "What are you hiding?" He had to know what he was sneaking into the castle before he did it.

The puppy didn't seem to understand the importance of remaining still, but then again, Wolfgang could hardly sit still in class, so how could he blame the pooch? However, that didn't make things any less inconvenient. He trusted his best friend, but he didn't want to risk revealing the dog to any untrustworthy passerbyer. "Just trust me on this one, okay?" He said, as quiet as his voice could go, which wasn't very quiet at all.

As if on cue, the dog fussed it's nose out of the cloak, revealing it's head to the boy. Wolfgang quickly readjusted to cover the animal, eyes wide with fear that he had just ruined his plan. "Okay, so now you know. Help me bring it back to our dorm?" He asked.

For some reason, this exchange didn't feel right to the second year. He was okay with breaking a few rules, but he rather not get in trouble or get caught. And he had a feeling if he went along with Wolfie's plan that he would get caught. Cameron rolled his eyes at his friend. For someone who was trying to keep a secret, he was being awfully loud. The Cerisier crossed his arms and frowned.

"He can't go in our dorm," he said in a calm voice upon seeing the dog. It didn't surprise him much that Wolfgang was trying to sneak in a dog. If his friend could have a dog, he would have a million. "We don't have the supplies to take care of him." And Cameron didn't really like dogs all that much either, but he wasn't going to say that to his dog loving friend. "We can't provide a good home for him."

Wolfgang hoped his friend would be understanding and though he knew Cameron knew how much dogs meant to him, his friend for once wanted to think logically about the situation. Wolfgang pouted his lower lip, still clinging tight to the puppy in his arms. He wanted to keep it so bad. His parents wouldn't allow him to have a dog at home so keeping one as a secret at school was his best bet.

"He can sleep on my bed with me and I could bring him scraps from meals to eat," Wolfgang tried to argue his point. "I'd give him lots of hugs and love," he continued to pout. He was genuinely sad that his roommate wouldn't let him keep the pet.

Though Cameron was right, Wolfgang still insisted on keeping the dog. Not only was it against the rules, Cameron didn't really want a dog. Dogs had fleas and needed attention. He rather have a pet rock that didn't do anything than have a dog. It wasn't because he hated dogs, because he didn't, it was because he didn't want to get in trouble. Not that he had never gotten in trouble, he just didn't want to get into trouble for something he didn't do. Not liking dogs was just a plus.

"Think long and hard about this," he sighed. "Taking care of a dog is a lot of work and you have too much class time to properly take care of him. He'll be lonely and it wouldn't be much of a home when the owner is gone for most of the day. He needs to roam around and have fun, there's no room for him to roam in our room."

"I'd...skip class for him," Wolfie said, his determination getting weaker and weaker. He wanted the dog so badly and he didn't want to let Cameron take it away from him. He buried his face in the fur of the pup and held it tight. He almost felt like crying out of frustration. He had gone through this so many times before with his parents and it never got any easier.

"Fine," Wolfgang sighed, giving in. "I guess I won't be naming him Cameron then," He added, stubbornly as he opened his arms and released the puppy onto the ground. Immediately the little dog started to run around and prance. Wolfgang sighed wistfully as he took a seat on the grass and watched the puppy play. It felt like he'd never be able to have a dog.

The thought of having a dog wasn't very appealing to the second year but if Wolfgang knew that, he would assume he was saying no because he didn't like the animal. Plus, he really didn't need to know that Cameron had a strong dislike for his favorite animal."If you skip class, you'll get in trouble. You could get kicked out of school for missing too much class." Then they wouldn't get to see each other anymore. "We wouldn't be roomies anymore," he added to seal the deal.

Cameron rolled his eyes at Wolfie's last comment. "I bet he'll stay around the grounds because he likes you so much. He can still be yours, you just can't keep him in our dorm." Maybe that would make his friend feel better. "Give him a name."
