Autumn was happy to be en route to school again. Her summer had been spent taking care of her pregnant mother and two-year-old sister. This time in between summer and Beauxbatons was relaxation time, as far as she was concerned. She didn't even mind shopping this year.

She had come to La Petit Dragon at about eleven in the morning in hopes that she would be able to miss the lunch rush, but it seemed other people (mostly students) had the same idea. But that was probably a normal occurrence in the days before school.

The pub was soon packed with laughing children and other happy noises. The atmosphere would normally make her uncomfortable, but it excited her today. She barely noticed another person sit down at her table. "Hi!" she greeted when she finally noticed, trying to be heard over the roar of the restaurant. "How are you?"

Birdie was having a hard time finding where he was supposed to be and his parents were of no help either. Since they didnt have any magical abilities, they had never heard of Beauxbatons or the pub that they had to find in order to get to the wizarding world. They hardly liked the plane ride to Paris but the views made up for the super long plane ride. Right? He had been surprised that his parents had agreed to him going to this magical school after someone from the school had visited them after he had opened the letter. Bird liked the guy who had showed up at their home, he began him 'sir' when he had corrected him.

If only he was there to help him now. Soon enough, they found the pub and Birdie's parents allowed him to roam around while they lookec over his shopping list. There were some strange things on there and he was pretty sure some of the stuff was made up. But then gain, it probably wasn't. The pub was very crowded and he seemed to be bumping into everyone while walking.

So he decided to take a seat at an almost empty table, it was the closest thing to empty as he was going to get. "Oh, hello," he said softly. He thought she was going to tell him to get lost or something. But instead, she was quite friendly. "I'm well. And yourself? This place is a bit crowded, isn't it? Or is that just me freaking out over this strange new world?"

Autumn was a little bit confused at first. This kid looked quite a bit like a girl, but also very much like a boy. Autumn was going to assume boy because boy clothes and haircut must mean boy. But she was going to not mention it. Autumn pretty much always used gender neutrals anyway. Julie-Pierre or Gregory would definitely not respond to a "hey girl".

"I feel fantastic! I'm so excited to go back to school! You're going to Beauxbatons?" Autumn asked. It was a fair assumption. If she were a parent, she wouldn't let her eleven-year-old run around some magical pub alone if it were any other time of the year,

"It could be a bit of both," Autumn said, nodding her head. "It frightened me the first time I saw all of this. Where are you from?"

Birdie thought it was a bit weird that the girl was talking to someone that she didn't even know. But then gain, it was nice that someone was talking to him. Usually people didn't tslk to him because they thought he was a girl in boy clothes or just a confused little girl that didn't know what she was doing. But he did know and he was perfectly happy the way he was. "I am," he grinned. He couldn't wait to see Beauxbatons amd attend the famous school. "I just found out about this place, I can't wait to see it for the first time."

"Queens, New York," the young boy replied. "This is the first time I've been to Paris. I'm enjoying the views."

Autumn hadn't been very excited about Beauxbatons at first. She was mostly confused and frustrated. No one could seem to tell her what to expect. This boy (that's what she was going to think of this other kid as) was excited with not knowing what to expect. Autumn wished she were more like that. She hated surprises nowadays.

"Beauxbatons is an extraordinary place. I wish I could describe it. Excited is definitely the correct way to be," Autumn approved. "What are you most looking forward to?"

"Paris is a really fun city. Did you get to go Louvre Museum and go see the Eiffel Tower?" she asked. Autumn really liked going to see the Mona Lisa each summer. It was still a special experience to her.

"I've never been to the United States before. What's fun to do there?" she asked.

Bird had learned the term 'muggle' from a few other witches and wizards and listening to their conversations. Since he had never really talked much in social situations he spent most of his time listening. Because of this, he became a very good listener and knew when to stay quiet. He had learned that muggles were humans that didn't possess any magical abilities, like his parents. Why was he different from his parents? Why did he posses magical abilities when no one else in his family did? He had listened around while walking around and he heard that some wizards (and witches) weren't too fond of muggles. Bird shrugged. "I don't know what's there so I don't know what to be excited about." He was excited about everything as a whole.

"Not yet," he said. "I've done some sight seeing with my parents, but we didn't do much. We've been busy with this magic stuff." It was confusing for everyone and he was sure that his parents had the worst of it. "It depends on where you live in the States."

"They have some things similar to Muggle schools. We have sports and clubs. We sit in classrooms and hear lectures and take notes and exams. We have a choir.

"The only thing different is it's all magic. Herbology is a class where you learn all about these weird plants. And Charms is a class where you learn spells that help you do little tasks. First years even even take a flying class!" she explained. "I never learned anything like that in Muggle school."

"Well, what's interesting to do around your home? What would you recommend to a person who has never been?"
