Halloween Party Empty Halloween Party

Post by Professor O'Riley Mon Oct 27, 2014 2:46 pm

Halloween had been around for centuries and not every witch and wizard was pleased with the holiday. Professor O'Riley was not one of those people, she loved the holiday and thought it was harmless fun. That is why she was in charge of creating a Halloween party for the students of  Beauxbatons. She wasn't surprised when she only had a fewer helpers to assist her in getting ready for the party. It hadn't taken long to decorate the Grand Hall and everything was ready for the gathering.  She had thanked the other professors for their help and invited the ghosts to the party. The more the merrier. The night had arrived and everything looked better in the dim lighting of the hall. Smiling faces of jack-o-lanterns spread across the ceiling and they were the main source of lighting.

The tables were filled with sweets of all kinds and a few gags here and there.  She was sure the students would love everything. For the music, with the help of Professor Dietrich, she had gotten a muggle music system that Dietrich was in charge of for the night. He was the only professor that knew how to use it after all. The hall filled with muggle music that was upbeat and popular along with Halloween tunes. She was rather fond of the song muggles called The Monster Mash.

She grinned brightly at students as they entered the Grand Hall. "Welcome to the party," she repeated as students filed in. "I hope you remembered your costumes!"

Halloween Party Empty Re: Halloween Party

Post by Guest Mon Oct 27, 2014 5:21 pm

Upon hearing about the Halloween Party, Cameron couldn't contain his excitement. He loved the holiday and loved to dress up. He just wasn't sure what he should dress up as, it was such a hard decision and he needed some help. He had consulted with his sister a few times about it but had left the conversations feeling even more confused about what he wanted to be. This was a very important matter and he needed to be something awesome. Something that would impress people. He wanted to be something most people would never guess. After a couple days of thinking, he finally sent a letter home asking his parents to send the stuff he would need.

A couple of hours before the party, he began to put on the makeup he needed and put on his purple suit. He figured that not many wizards would know who the Joker was because he was a comic book character created by a muggle. He entered the hall just in time to run into his friend Wolfgang. He grinned brightly at him. "Please tell me you know who I am," he bit his lipsticked bottom lip.

Halloween Party Empty Re: Halloween Party

Post by Autumn Krischstein Wed Nov 05, 2014 3:27 pm

When Autumn was younger, no one had ever bought her candy or let her dress up. By the time she had the opportunity, she was too old, according to her parents. So when Julie-Pierre suggested they dress up, she said no.

But Julie-Pierre continued to pester her about it until she finally gave in. And then he continued to irritate her until she agreed that they could wear costumes that were related to each other.

So that is how she ended up in a fancy dress that his mother had sent her, a crown that was probably more expensive than her entire wardrobe, and fake elf ears or whatever they were called. And how Julie-Pierre ended up being some Robin Hood-looking dude who went around and saved her from some villain.

And then, there was a party. Which Julie-Pierre had dragged her to. Every time he looked at her, she scowled and shook her head. Her arms never left their crossed position on her chest. He'd just smile. "I'm not happy about this, Julie-Pierre," she stated, finally, when he looked at her again. “Stop smiling,” she ordered. “I’m angry with you.”

Wolfgang adored Halloween. It was by far his favorite holiday and even if there wasn't to be a Halloween celebration at school, he was planning on dressing up for the occasion regardless. His costume wasn't hard to think of and was easy enough to do. Of course he of all people would paint his lips and nose black and draw fake fur on his face where a beard wouldn't grow until many years later and wear a pair of pointed ears in some sort of crude mockery of a werewolf. He knew werewolves were real and was once scolded when he was young and naïve and proudly announced to his parents that he wanted to meet a werewolf. "If you're lucky, you won't ever," His Mum had told him. He knew real werewolves were scary and dangerous but he was just pretending for the night.

Immediately he searched out his friends. Cam was supposed to be there and it took a bit before he recognized his friend beneath all the make up he was wearing. "Nice lipstick," he commented, his voice sounded weird with his mouth full of plastic fangs. His teeth were too crooked so that the fangs rested weird on them and wouldn't stay put. "But you got it all over your face," he joked. Of course he recognized the costume Cameron had on! Batman video games were among Wolfgang's favorite. "Joker, of course. Do you know what I am?" Wolfgang grinned and asked in return.

Christine was not one of those people who especially liked Halloween. It was a horrible creepy thing she wished she had no need to participate in. However, here she was and only because she found something she did not mind wearing at all. A Regency dress she'd found in a shop in Cheval was perfect and she knew exactly how to do her hair so it looked right for her favourite era.

She stepped lightly into the hall and shivered at the carved pumpkins. The stuff of nightmares for her. Not at all nice in her opinion. The Valentine ball was so much better but that was still months away. For now she would be social and not even so much as look at the lanterns. Besides it was not like she was seven back when those nightmares first began. She was seventeen and thus much more able to distinguish between fantasy and reality.

The difficult thing about a boarding school is working out how on earth to design a costume without a grandparent around to help. That was Lucie's biggest issue and she had no clue what she even wanted to dress up as. It had to be something easy to do and perhaps easy enough to get supplies in Cheval since that was easier than asking family to send her something. What if it was too heavy for an owl to carry?

In the end she went with a cat. A black cat with a headband and black cardboard ears attached to it. Long sleeved black shirt. Long black trousers. Her black school shoes. Makeup for wiskers and black nose she borrowed from her roommate since her own family still thought she was too young for the mysteries of face alterations. She'd even managed to find some long black fluffy cat toy in Cheval which was perfect for a cat tail. First she had to pull that one from the stick it was attached to but it did work out perfectly for a tail.

She stepped into the hall and looked around for someone she knew. It was a little challenging when everyone was in costume. There had to be someone around here she knew. Lucie stepped around a huddle of first years in her search but so far not even her roommate appeared to be obvious and Lucie had seen her costume!

Halloween Party Empty Re: Halloween Party

Post by Guest Sun Nov 09, 2014 12:05 pm

Haruhi saw the Halloween party as an excuse to take a break from studying to have some fun. Usually when her nose wasn't pressed into a book, she was playing sports, mostly quidditch now that she was on the team. Haruhi was really starting to like the sport. Even more so than football.

She hadn't thought of a costume ahead of time and therefore was left with the hasty decision to throw something together. A cat was a simple enough costume. With a simple pointed ear headband and a long black tail, the young girl could pass off having a costume.

She had attended the party alone, expecting to meet up with someone she knew there. She figured it'd be more fun that way. She also held a hope that Bo would attend. However, instead of the team's seeker, she spotted her captain and was going to go over to chat with her when she noticed they had had the same costume idea. "Oh dear," Haruhi uttered, biting her lip. Of course they looked different, but they were still both dressed as cats. "I guess I should've asked around before dressing up," Haruhi said, apologetically. "I think you wear it better, though. I didn't think to add whiskers," She noted. She had been in too much of a hurry to think about that.

Julie-Pierre couldn't help but smile wide as he walked into the party. This was definitely his sort of time, and it fared no better with being able to dress up. He couldn't help but be the Hero in a Tunic himself, his green shirt making everyone think he was wearing a skirt. Oh, those uneducated children didn't know just how powerful his character was, not to mention with his lovely princess by his side.

"Come on!" he said happily, sometimes slipping into German. "Du musst komm mit mir!" The green-clad redhead was practically dragging his beautiful. But then he took notice of Autumn, his Zelda's face, as she commanded him. It was a horrid scowl making him cringe in slight fear. To think his damsel would be able to scare him more than his long-time foe.

"Hey, you look beautiful," he said with a sulk, bringing his hands to his sides. "It's a Halloween Party, for God's sake. Lighten up, Autumn!"

Halloween Party Empty Re: Halloween Party

Post by Guest Mon Nov 10, 2014 1:39 pm

A grin spread across the first year's face when he saw his childhood friend. Things seemed to be the same with them and nothing had really changed besides the fact that they both had families now. It was like they had never left each other sometimes but other times it was like they didn't know each other at all. But he was still glad to have his friend back, he seemed to understand when others didn't. He couldn't talk to Kayla about how sometimes he felt like he didn't belong in the Miller family because she'd never understand what he was talking about. Wolfgang on the other hand was easier to talk to, plus they got along better.

At first he frowned because it seemed like no one knew who he was but he cheered up when his friend figured out who I was. It was nice that at least someone knew who he was. "Werewolves don't look like that," he teased. He grabbed Wolfie's hand and pulled him towards where other students were dancing. He recognized the song, it was a muggle song that Anna had played every Halloween. It was about a group of monsters dancing a dance that was made just for them. "This place is so cool," he grinned. He could get used to the wizarding world and everything this school had to offer.

Halloween was the perfect time to dress up as his favorite super hero and not get made fun of for wearing tights. He didn't care if no one got his costume, he was going to dress up as Thor because Thor was the greatest super hero ever. Since his family didn't posses much money, his costume was made by hand by Tessa Ainsworth. When if came in the mail, Riley fixed all of the little mistakes in the costume. Small details were added and errors were covered up. The costume just had to be perfect and now it was with the help of the equipment that Tessa had packed along with the costume.

He had even gotten his best friend to have matching costumes. Riley was going has Thor and Bo was going as Loki. It was just perfect. "They went all out," he noted when they arrived at the dance.

Post by Kayla Miller Mon Nov 10, 2014 6:04 pm

Kayla liked Halloween, but she definitely wasn't completely crazy about it. Normally she wore all black, stuck on a tail, drew some whiskers and called it a day. However that morning, when she'd laid out her black shirt and pants, she had a sudden stroke of inspiration. She got a dark mask, draped a black sheet over her back, and stole a Quidditch bat. Lastly she tied her hair up and looked at herself in the mirror. It was lazy, but a little bit more creative than her usual costume. She went downstairs to the party, wondering who, if anyone, could guess what she was.

At the party she went directly for the sweets. Mmm, cake. She restricted herself to a small slice as she walked through the people, trying to find a familiar face and checking out the costumes. She saw Autumn, Greg's cousin from the carriage, looking like an unhappy princess or queen. Autumn was conversing with a boy, who was clearly dressed up but Kayla had no idea what he was. "Are you an evil princess?" she asked her.

Autumn smiled at Julie-Pierre's "beautiful" comment, but quickly turned it back into a frown.

But it was too late. He had seen her smile. She could no longer hide it.

She laughed. It always happened like that. He'd always say something cute or funny and it would distract her. "You can't go around all smiley. It's not fair."

She heard Kayla's voice at her side. "I am some sort of princess," she replied, turning toward her. "You will have to ask Julie-Pierre what I am. He's supposed to be serving me, or something," Autumn answered. She turned back and looked up into Julie-Pierre's eyes and poked his chest. "Kayla, this is my best friend, Julie-Pierre," she introduced her, not looking away from him. She dropped her finger, "and Julie-Pierre, this is Kayla, Gregory's girlfriend."

Greg could deny it all he wanted. Kayla was his girlfriend, and everyone knew it.

The boy crossed his arms from his friend's reaction at first. He knew that Autumn want in the greatest mood, but he figured this party could help to cheer her up in some way. Really, it would be. Ice if she tried to smile even a little. The redhead wanted their costumes to give her some sense of happiness, clearly, but his attempt to make his friend gleef seemed to be in vain.

When she said it wasn't fair for hme m to smile, though, he codnt help but let it grow. "That's because I'm not being a stick in the mud," he teased. "Come on, Autumn, you gotta cheer up at least a little. Let your wild side out and have a good time! That's what parties are for!"

To his surprise, a girl had stepped into their little conversation. Although he understood that parties wod have people interrupting others, this one in particular felt a little odd. What was this that he was feeling well inside him... Jealousy? Strange.

The Hero didn't let it show, though, as he managed to gmake e a wcoling smile to the new face.

"She's an eleven princess, to be specific," Julie-Pierre said gleefully. "When she becomes a queen, she gets super duper awesome!" He couldn't help byou t jump a little, most acting feminine. "I'm the hero in her story, if you couldn't tell." The boy heard the girls introduction after this. "Nice to meet you."

Halloween Party Empty Re: Halloween Party

Post by Guest Sat Nov 15, 2014 4:31 pm

"This is a werewolf, Wolfgang version," Wolf replied, indignantly and laughed as Cam grabbed his hand and lead him to the dancefloor. "No! But I want to get some pudding first!" Wolfgang pretended to resist, but Cam lead him with ease to the dancefloor. He wasn't kidding about wanting pudding. There were desserts galore and Wolf was lucky if he got a cake on his birthday. The eleven year old wanted nothing more than to stuff his mouth with as many sweets as he could find.

However, after hearing the song playing and recognizing it, he fell into dance move and jumped around without much aim to the beat of the Halloween song. He laughed at Cam's comment about how cool everything was. He had to admit the floating pumpkins and house-elf made meals were awesome, but it could not be as exciting to him, who grew up knowing magic was real, compared to Cameron who didn't until recently. "Remember how I used to do those 'magic tricks' and you were always in such an awe over them?" Wolf relayed, chuckling at the memory. All wizards displayed magic at an early age and Wolf took advantage of that by trying to impress his muggle friends, namely Cameron. He loved how excited it had made Cameron and seeing his eyes light up, but always felt awkward that he couldn't tell his childhood best friend his secrets. Now he didn't have to, though. Cam was a wizard as well and now he knew. As the song came to an end, Wolfgang suddenly wrapped Cameron in an embrace and squeezed his friend as tight as he could. He held there for a moment before breaking the hug and looking into his eyes with a beaming smile. "Lets get something to eat!"

Kayla had not seen that coming. Gregory's girlfriend? "Not yet," she laughed, clearly blushing. "We're still eleven." She and Greg definitely weren't writing love notes and getting all kissy-kissy with each other. Other people had accused them of dating too, but she really didn't think they were. For the first time she wondered what Greg thought of it. It was a little odd that his cousin thought they were dating.

She laughed at the boy's enthusiasm. "And you save the day with your awesome powers?" she guessed. "I love your costumes. They are really cool and detailed." Maybe she had a slacker costume, but that wasn't really the point of Halloween, which was to stuff yourself with as much candy as possible. Kayla smiled at Julie Pierre and extended her hand. "Nice to meet you too, Julie Pierre."

Halloween Party Empty Re: Halloween Party

Post by Julie-Pierre Krischstein Tue Nov 18, 2014 7:39 pm

Julie-Pierre looked to Kayla for a moment as she spoke, then back to Autumn. Inside he was getting slightly more and more annoyed with the new girl's presence, though figured he must be thinking too low of her. After all, her costume wasn't all the best while he had managed to put as much detail as he could into his.

The girl retorted to Autumn that she and this Greg character weren't together as of yet. Was age the only thing that bound them away from each other? With the flush on her cheeks, it seemed the case.

The Hero continued his spiel of happiness, though, not wanting to concern his close friend with his actions. Kayla's question in regards to powers made the boy grin. "Exactly!" he said happily before hearing the compliment on their costumes.

"Thank you," he sang, "My mom sent this off to me from home, so you ought to thank my mother more." Julie-Pierre chuckled lightly before quickly grabbing hold of the girl's hand in a quick handshake.

Halloween Party Empty Re: Halloween Party

Post by Lucie Banken Wed Nov 19, 2014 4:53 am

Lucie was stunned when she found herself faced with another black cat. It was silly of her to think no-one else would come up with the idea. Black cats were synonymous with Halloween like witches and pumpkins and ghosts. A nervous giggle errupted from her mouth after recognising the other black cat as her younger Quidditch team-mate. "Ooh don't worry about it. Black cat costumes are so easy to put together aren't they? A perfect Halloween costume." You certainly couldn't get much more halloweeny with out going ghoulish without dressing as a black cat.

She slipped her hand her trouser pocket and pulled out a black eye pencil. "I could remedy that if you like. My roommate said I could keep this." Lucie held it up for Haruhi to see. "Would you like me to draw whiskers on your face so you'll look properly like my cat twin?" She'd seen what hers looked like in the mirror so it should't be too hard to make Haruhi's whiskers look the same.

Halloween Party Empty Re: Halloween Party

Post by Guest Thu Nov 20, 2014 1:18 pm

A sigh of relief passed Haruhi's lips as her captain didn't seem upset at all that they ended up with the same costume. She seemed more humored than anything, which was a relief. Fighting over something as petty as a costume would be pointless, but fortunately they were both easy going about it.

"It's a simple and cute Halloween costume," Haruhi responded. "I don't really like the scary part of Halloween," She admitted. Horror films always gave her nightmares and sometimes the kids at her old muggle school would dress up so gruesome Haruhi was afraid to talk to them at Halloween festivities.

The second year rose an eyebrow as Lucie told her she could help fix the whisker-less cat problem and watched as the girl produced a stick of make up from her pocket. "You'd do that for me?" She replied, quite touched. What was a cat without her whiskers? Even if she had the make up to do it, it would be hard to add them to her face without a mirror, but fortunately she had Lucie willing to do it for her. She tried to hold still so the older girl could do her work, not wanting to move and end up smudging the whiskers. How embarrassing that would look for her to spend the rest of the night with black smudges on her face.

Post by Lucie Banken Thu Nov 20, 2014 2:20 pm

"I don't really like it much either," Lucie replied. "My brothers used to tease me because it." That had to be the best thing about being at Beauxbatons. She got to skip Halloween with Owen and Hans. There were still the gruesome costumes around here but Lucie felt safer for reasons she couldn't quite understand. Maybe the lack of trick or treating and horror movies were the reason. Just lots of sweet treats to eat and no horrible brothers to steal it from her.

"Of course," Lucie replied, "you can't be a cat without whiskers. That'd be like um like..." She gave up on finding the analogy and finished weakly with, "well like anything that has something missing." She carefully drew the whiskers from Haruhi's nose to somewhere in the middle of her cheeks careful to make sure the lines stood out from each other. Then she capped the pencil and stood back. "There. Sorry I haven't got a mirror but they look a lot like mine now."

Halloween Party Empty Re: Halloween Party

Post by Autumn Krischstein Thu Nov 20, 2014 7:27 pm

Autumn decided then and there that she did not like parties. She did not like being interrupted and she did not like being suddenly excluded.

She also didn't understand why Julie-Pierre was talking to Kayla anyway. Kayla wasn't his friend. And Kayla wasn't Autumn's friend. She was just Gregory's girlfriend, though she denied it at the moment.

Maybe it was the attention Kayla was giving Julie-Pierre. He loved compliments; giving them and receiving them. He was too generous, in Autumn's opinion.

Autumn stopped her thoughts short. Was she jealous? Maybe, she admitted to herself. She didn't own him. She didn't want Julie-Pierre or Kayla to think that she was even capable of being envious. It was such an emotion that stemmed from insecurity, which she did not have a reason to be in a state of. And once again, she had no claim to Julie-Pierre. "So what are you dressed as, Kayla?" she asked, quickly.

Julie-Pierre felt Autumn begin to seem a bit off. He looked to her from the corner of his eye, frowning softly as his arms crossed. He wasn't entirely sure what was wrong, but thought it best he didn't know.

Still feeling a bit envious from Kayla's presence, he heard his friend begin to talk to the girl. Another familiar voice sounded near the redhead, making him turn to see his friend Haruhi.

His face beamed. "Hey!" he exclaimed, waving to her before turning to the brunette he knew well. Julie-Pierre turned back to the girl, deciding then that it was best to let her be with her acquaintance.

"I'll be back," he said, smiling wide before rushing over to Haruhi. He noticed the captain of their house's quiddich team, but didn't know her well. The boy smiled, chuckling softly before waving hello to them.

Post by Kayla Miller Sat Nov 22, 2014 4:21 pm

This whole conversation was falling apart. Just as she was about to respond to Autumn, Julie Pierre left. It shouldn't have been awkward, as parties were supposed to be events where everyone talked to everyone else. She had joined in on their conversation, after all. She strained her neck, thinking she saw Greg at the doorway, but it wasn't him.

"What?" she said abruptly. "Oh, right. I'm a guy with a bat. Batman." She gestured at her androgynous clothing and Quidditch bat. "Honestly, it's a little better than my normal costume."

Looking over her shoulder, Kayla's smile faded. There was a girl next to the girl Julie Pierre was talking to. Wasn't that Greg's captain? Uh oh. She hoped she wouldn't notice she had stolen her team's Quidditch bat. "I need a discreet way to get this bat back to her," she whispered loudly to Autumn, gesturing at the Feu captain.
