Tea for Two Empty Tea for Two

Sitting at a random table during the rush hour was almost habitual for Harley by now. She would find a table, , with or without a person, and sit there. If the person objected, she would get up and find another. Most of the time, though, people didn't turn her down and she made a brief friend to share a drink with before never talking to again, and that was okay. It might have nagged at her conscious for a while that What if she had talked to that person more?, but eventually it left her alone.

It was an especially hot summer, so she did her ritual of signaling a waitress before sitting at a random table, this time occupied by a small, familiar looking girl. "Hi. Is me sitting here alright?" At the girl's okay, she ordered her favourite Muggle soda, Sprite. Something about sugared and carbonated water appealed to her, and she didn't know exactly why. "I'm Harley, by the way. Harley Fenwick."

Tea for Two Empty Re: Tea for Two

When she came to La Petit Dragon last year, she sat down at the least full table and met her friend Greg. That day, she'd gotten there earlier. While Cameron bought his second year supplies and the first years rushed to get their new supplies, she already had all her supplies to repeat first year. Kayla had gotten sick and missed a large part of the last year. That, paired with the fact that she was the youngest of her year, with her birthday just barely allowing her to enroll that year, forced her to repeat first year. The fact was depressing, but she didn't allow herself to dwell on it. She excused herself from the busy school supply shopping and rushed to La Petit Dragon.

With a huge amount of money that was usually for school supplies, Kayla decided she deserved a feast. "I'll get one butterbeer, and one of all the food and desserts," she told the surprised waitress brightly. She probably wouldn't be able to finish it all, but oh well. Hopefully Cameron and his friends would stop by. She was relieved when a familiar looking older blonde girl sat down at her table. Maybe she could convince her to have some of the food.

Kayla was certain she knew that face and voice from somewhere. She was still trying to figure out if she knew the girl and was about to ask when she introduced herself. Harley. Flashbacks ran through her head. Horses. A joke. Kayla's eyes widened. "Oh, I know you!" she beamed. "I'm Kayla. Do you remember me? We met at the stables last year!" The memory came rushing back to her. It was one of her brighter moments last year.

Oh. Oh. She remembered the girl now. At the stables, where she had cracked probably the worst joke ever. "Really? You remember me?" There were at least twenty blonde girls at the school, and for Harley herself that month had been sort of a haze. "Of course I remember you. You were probably the nicest person to me that year." Which was a lie, then a truth. "It's great, really, too see you again. An old face is quite comforting once you leave school apparently. How's Beauxbatons?"

Once waitress returned, she noticed the ridiculous amount of food being placed at the table. "Oh, wow. Planning on inviting the entire Quidditch team over, are we? Or is this all for you?" She knew herself that it was easy to deceive people with looks (Harley was no ditsy blonde), but this was a lot of food. And all she had bought was a Sprite.

Tea for Two Empty Re: Tea for Two

"Not at first," Kayla admitted. She was glad to meet a familiar, friendly face who wasn't too wrapped up over school or work or their new marriage. She smiled, feeling immensely happier than before. Her afternoon wouldn't be so boring anymore. She didn't even feel weird talking to a much older girl. "It's nice to see you again, too. How did that pony joke go again?" Beauxbatons. She wanted to explain that predicament simply. "I have to repeat first year. I was out for a long time last year." Kayla heaved a glum sigh. She disliked doing things over, meaning she had essentially made no progress. "It must be fun to be out of school."

The waitress returned, filling up every space of the table with the plates. Kayla quickly shifted her belongings. She probably shouldn't have ordered desserts and lunches at the same time, as she was seriously tempted by the mousse. "Oh, yeah," she grinned. "I had a lot of spare change." Taking a little bite out of her salad, she pushed the large bowl over to Harley. "Please take some, I seriously can't finish all this," she laughed.
