Portrait of Cemetery Walkers in the Daylight

Post by Osmund Hollow on Mon May 20, 2013 8:08 pm

Osmund wasn't sure what he was to expect of his first visit to Cheval. His father never mentioned his adventures from school and Oz was far too upset with Helena after she introduced him to her new boyfriend, a muggle, nonetheless, to ask her about it. He figured he ought to wonder about it by himself and brood while he was at it until the time came that the truth was revealed. He found himself to have been less awe-struck by everything than seemingly everyone else and was annoyed by the crowd, causing him to desire some solitude.

His hand reached for the sleeve of a familiar face; Christian D'Angelo, and pulled gently on it to get his attention. "Let's go elsewhere," Osmund said, his voice with a hint of pleading in it. He needed a break from the sound and started walking astray towards where the buildings broke for trees and peace started to settle in. He didn't care whether or not Christian was following, for he wanted to go. Just having someone with him would be a little more nicer.

He paused as he saw where the park stopped and turned to grass and a hill, where graves blossomed. Only a wrought iron fence separated him from where a number of lifeless bodies rested. It was the sort of peace he desired, for, a dead person didn't make a sound, now did they? He looked behind himself again before opening the gate, it's rusty hinges screeching protest, and then entered.

Christian had no idea what he was expecting Cheval to look like but he didn't picture it quite like this. Of course he only had his own imagination to go off of since the only person he knew that had ever been to the village was his father. Of course anyone who knew his father knew that he wasn't one for talking especially when it came to his son. This left the boy with his wild imagination to picture the village of cheval. The one thing his mind never showed him of the place was the crowds, there were so many people there. Everyone running into one another and yelling across to roads to their friends. While Christian didn't dislike people he just wasn't too fond of a lot of them in one place like this. He struggled to keep pace with Osmund which was the only guy at school he considered a friend and he had no way of knowing if his feelings were mutal on that. He could have asked one of the many girl friends he had to come with him but it just seemed odd to.

The steadly growing thirteen year old tried to use some of his new found height to look over people's heads to find a nice place for them to hang out at that would get them out of the crowds. However every place they passed by looked even more crowded than the street. He looked over at Osmund when the boy tugged on his sleeve. It turned out Christian wasn't the only one wanting out of the crowds. He was about to ask where he wanted to go when the dark haired boy was off.

The cerisier pushed through people in the way to keep up with Osmund, once in awhile throwing a 'sorry' back at the people. Soon he could tell where they were headed, there was a cemetery not far ahead that the boy was dead heading for. He paused for a moment right outside of the gate, he found himself feeling a bit nervous about going in. However he didn't want to seem like a baby and lose Osmund as a friend if he even considered Christian that so he quickly caught up and kept following.

Looking behind him, Osmund was half surprised to see Christian was following behind. The boys hadn't formally agreed to keeping each other company so Osmund was only half-expecting for Christian to come along when he had suggested. Nonetheless, he was happy to have some sort of company. "C'mon! Let's take a stroll through the cemetery, shall we?" Osmund suggested. They were out that way anyway just to escape the noise of the crowded streets of Cheval, they'd might as well enjoy what was featured in this most quiet space.

"Maybe we'll find something spooky," He added, in a playful tone before entering through the gate, holding the door open for Christian to follow him. "You're not scared, right? It's daytime. Monsters don't come out when the sun is up," he teased, knowing well that monsters that children were told about when they were young do not exist at all. Everything had an explanation and they had nothing to fear.

Cemeteries were creepy places, end of story. No matter what time of day you were there they are creepy. The least he could say for this adventure into the creepy garden of stones was that at least he had someone with him instead of being all alone. The second good thing about this was it was after all the middle of the day so there could be no Osmund jumping out of a dark shadow cast by a tree making him scream like a girl. He wasn't too happy though to see how excited his mate seemed about the idea of finding something spooky, of course he just had to come with the one person who wanted to seek out the scary stuff. If only he had brought one of the girls then he wouldn't have to worry about it. Was he scared, Osmund asked him, well yeah of course he was a least just a little bit. However Christian wanted so badly to be liked by the other wizard that he knew he couldn't act scared even if it was just a little bit.

"Nah its just a graveyard in the middle of the day, what's there to be scared of?" He answered nonchalantly. He walked through the gate and started down the path of the between some of the head stones. He didn't bother to read any of them there really seemed no reason to. "So what exactly did you have in mind coming here, a nice stroll?" He asked curiously not sure what one does for fun in a cemetery.

From the stiff look on his face, Osmund could tell whether or not Christian was being truthful. He didn't know the other lad well enough to immediately know how easy it was to startle the Cerisier, but given the place and circumstances, Osmund figured he'd ought to have a little fun and find out.

He smirked to himself as he knew his own secret plans, but wasn't about to share them with Christian, for that would defeat the purpose. "I wanted some peace and quiet. What could be more peaceful than a cemetery? The only people besides us are dead," Osmund noted, before tripping over a small, weathered headstone. He recovered and let out an malicious laugh. "Restless spirits are coming to get me! OooooOOOOOooooooOOOooooh!" He mocked a sound of what he knew to be what muggles thought ghosts sounded like before breaking into laughter. He wished that he had learned well from the pranksters at his old muggle school. They used to play all sorts of little stupid tricks on him that made him startled and though they were sort of daft, he wished he remembered some of them. It would be humorous to see Christian jump in such a setting. Perhaps he'd bide his time to think and wait for the erie aura of the place to sink in before he acted.
