English in Common
After Greg had finished his shopping, he found himself going back to La Petit Dragon. He felt like something important was going to happen there, and Autumn always told him to follow his instincts (or something along those lines).
He sat down at the table he had sat at earlier that morning. Maybe it was already becoming a habit. He stopped himself from thinking that thought. "There's no reason to become obsessive compulsive over it," he said aloud in English. "Now I'm that kid who talks to himself!" he said, still in his native language. If Autumn were here, she would scold him for not using French. They agreed that it was only fair, since she attempted to speak in English when she was in his homeland.
He was so wrapped up in his thoughts that he hadn't noticed that someone was asking permission to sit. "Sorry," he said, switching to French rather clumsily. "You can sit. Are you going to Beauxbatons?" he asked, sounding more like he understood the language.

Re: English in Common
Mohamed had learned most of his English in school. He'd never had a trouble talking to people in Somalia. Most people spoke Somalian or Arabic-a few spoke English and the others spoke Swahili or one of a good deal of native languages. Mo simply needed a place to sit. Gi had gone to stare at her Santi friend.
So, of course now Mohamed was alone. He twiddled his thumbs awkwardly. People. Peoplely peoplely people. Lots of people. Many people. Hi People. I'm Mohamed. People. Lots of eyes. Glimpses at him. Eyes. He hurried to a table that had only one set of eyes. He stood in front of it waiting to be addressed, but the boy only seemed to feel like addressing himself. Which was extremely fine. It was healthy to address yourself. Lay your thoughts on a table, now if you were to pair that with skinning cats then there would probably be a larger problem, but the boy didn't smell like cat. Finally, the boy recognized his existence."Ah, thank you." He sat. "I am going to Beauxbatons. I will be a first year."

"I will be, too," Greg responded. He wasn't quite sure what he should say. The kid seemed like he just needed a place to sit, not a companion.
Greg looked around the area. There were plenty of open seats, but they were at tables with more than two or three people to begin with. Maybe this other boy just thought that Greg was a less threatening option. Greg figured he'd do that, too, if it ever came to that.
"So...uh... my name is Greg. What's yours?" he tried.
Yes, Gregory Greg thought, uncomfortable conversation is better than silence. Real smart.
