Letters to David Empty Letters to David

Post by Guest Fri Sep 05, 2014 6:03 pm

After sending many letters to his caseworker, she finally gave him his old friend David's address. This would be the first ever letter sent to him since David had left the orphanage three years ago. What if he didn't remember him? What if he had changed? What if his name wasn't even David anymore? He was always one to over think things and he could be writing his letter right now instead of thinking about all the negative things that could happen. He had packed a piece of parchment and his quill along with his ink. He would try his best to keep his handwriting neat and his hand from shaking. He was so nervous about this but he couldn't tell anyone about the things he was doing. They wouldn't understand and he wasn't ready to give away his secrets.

Dear David,

After asking a million times, I was able to get your address with your mother's permission. Kathy, my caseworker, wouldn't have been able to give me your address without permission. She told me that your mother said that she didn't want to tell you that I'm writing because she wanted you to be surprised. Oh, I forgot to tell you, this is Riley. From the boys' home? You gave me that comic book. I do hope you remember me. I'm glad that I finally found you, I was very worried about how things were going for you.

I was adopted recently and I have a sister. If you reply back, I would be so glad. If you don't, I wish you the best.

Sincerely, Riley

He rolled up the letter and wrapped it around an owl's leg with sting. "Please take this and be safe," he said after telling the bird the address. Owls were very smart creatures and he didn't doubt the bird for a minute. "Good luck." And with that, the owl took off.
