A Girl's Name? Empty A Girl's Name?

Post by Autumn Krischstein Mon Sep 08, 2014 12:48 pm

Autumn liked meeting new people. Listening was one of her favorite subjects. Her parents had taught her that there was a time for silence and a time for listening. And she had listened to them.

Autumn had met Beauxbatons students in the weirdest ways so far. So what was she going to do? Sit around and wait for something weird to happen in the weirdest place she knew of (Next to the mumblings she had heard about whisper Alley). La Petit Dragon,

The first person who looked about her age was a boy. He looked kind of tired and lost, just like she had been earlier that day. "Come sit with me!" Autumn called, waving at him.

A Girl's Name? Empty Re: A Girl's Name?

A light yawn escaped Julie-Pierre as his gait was staggered, though he managed to keep balanced. It took longer than expected to get to where he was now from his home. He hadn't realised just how much extra sleep he had gotten, his body not used to it and thus feeling heavy and near lifeless. However, a girl's sudden call to him caught him off guard, catching his attention, pulling him slightly from his state.

Blue-hazel eyes looked over to see the girl. She was rather nice looking. Her hair had a nice wave to it, and the boy didn't care much for her body. That wasn't what a girl was. At least his mother taught him some extra things about finding someone to be with, if he ever did. He was only eleven, and so it would be a little concerning if he started getting "twitterpated" so easily when it wasn't even spring.

Nevertheless, the red-haired character smiled wide, waving to the seemingly rambunctious girl as he made his way to her. "Hey, there," he said, a little more wound down than normal due to the excess of sleep he had gotten. "It's nice to meet you. I'm Julie-Pierre. What's your name?"

The boy kind of looked her over. It made her a little uncomfortable, but she didn't let it show. She smiled widely. "I'm Autumn. It's nice to meet you. You look tired. Do you want some candy or something?"

Autumn reached into her sweater pocket and laid three brightly wrapped candies on the table in front of Julie-Pierre. "All I have is chocolate. It's Belgian chocolate, though. The really good kind. I think I have more, too. Though it's buried in my purse."

"So where are you from?" Autumn asked, changing the subject. She was curious about his name. Maybe his country would shed some light on it.

The boy took notice of the candy almost immediately. Chocolate always managed to catch his attention, and Belgian chocolate had become one of his favourite types. They were little ducks, the designs of their tiny eyes and wings clear. One had white and brown all over it, only making it more delectable. Julie-Pierre looked up at the Fall girl, wondering if she was doing this to lure him into a trap or something. Though, yes, she seemed nice, a sudden tint of paranoia ran through him from the situation. Still, his mouth was watering.

As the girl replied, introducing herself to him, he couldn't help but grab the multi-coloured duck, unwrapping it and biting off the cartoony head. It felt like the flavour popped in his mouth like fireworks, sending his taste buds on a whirl. He had forgotten just how good it actually tasted.

"I'm from Germany," he said, smiling softly as apparently a hint of chocolate not to the side of the outside of his mouth. "And yourself?"

Autumn watched the boy inhale a piece of candy. It made her a little bit hungry, so she took one of the pieces herself. She took a bite of the chocolate, but it didn't taste as good as it had earlier. She wrinkled her nose. "I think I need something less sweet," she said, letting out a laugh. "I've only eaten these candies all day."

"I'm from Belgium," Autumn said with less enthusiam. She found her home to be rather dull. She felt like it was just a collection of states that didn't fit into the surrounding countries. "You know. Chocolate. Audrey Hepburn. Brussels Sprouts. Beer. All that stuff. Not exciting. What's Germany like? I've never been before." She asked curiously.

Julie-Pierre was about ready to grab a second chocolate duck when his hand came near Autumn's. Instinctively he brought his hand back to his side, waiting his turn before getting the last piece of sweet candy. The girl's nose crinkling made the boy a little concerned. Did she grab one that was expired? Was his even expired? He took a bite of the new duck, this time at its tail, and found nothing wrong with its taste. Her sudden mention of having candies to eat all day helped him connect the dots.

Hearing she was from Belgium, the boy's eyes widened. It was cool, really, that she was from there. He had always wanted to go to a foreign country, but he was confined, for lack of a better word, to his home country. Autumn's question about Germany made him smile.

"It's not too much," he said. "Then again, I don't know much that's great of Germany other than our Oktoberfest and the quality of the beer. I'm not old enough to have any, so I don't know if that's true."

"I've been to the Netherlands, France and Belgium. Not exactly a variety," Autumn agreed. She didn't travel much. It depended on her father's work schedule, which did not have much wiggle room. "And Germany is famous for a lot of things. The Berlin Wall. The harpsichord. Gummi Bears. And a billion other things. But that's not what I mean, of course. What is there to see and do?" Autumn was extremely fascinated. She then realized that there would be people from all over the world at Beauxbatons. She'd get to hear about a lot of different countries.

"Do you only speak German and French or do you speak anymore languages?" she asked.

The boy smiled. "You're rather lucky," he couldn't help but say. "I've always wanted to go to Denmark. It seems like a nice place." It was clear that he didn't care much for his country's history. That was in the past, the Wall and such. That was not him, and that was not what connected him to his home.

But then came Autumn's question about the languages he spoke. Julie-Pierre chuckled softly, smiling as he did so still.

"No, actually," he said. "I know a bit of Latin, too, so that allows me to know a little of Spanish, Italian, and English. German helps with learning English, too, though I heard it has more relations to Swedish and Danish." The boy gave a soft shrug. "Oh, well. That doesn't hinder me from wanting to learn it. I'm likely an odd one, wanting to learn a lot of languages."

"I hear Denmark is beautiful," Autumn said. "I want to go to Aarhus. They have the best naturally preserved body there. He was found in a bog and he still has flesh and eyes and hair, even though the body is two thousand years old. Can you tell I'm more about the tourist attractions?" she asked, giggling. She really found the Grauballe Man fascinating.

She smiled again when the boy chuckled. It was a cute chuckle.

"Cool. French and Dutch and English are all I know. I have considered learning more languages. But the reading part of other languages is hard for me to learn. Speaking is simple," Autumn explained.

"So what do you know about Beauxbatons?" Autumn asked.

Julie-Pierre smiled softly when the girl talked about Denmark. Oddly enough, he understood the girls liking to something most would find to be so morbid. Others would think her mad, but he thought her fascinating. He had a liking to Jack the Ripper, so his odd liking to an old maniac, the man never found even with new struggles for evidence with technology, made him have quite the relation to her.

"Nothing wrong with that," he said happily. "I've my quirks, too. I think that preserved past people is rather interesting." The red-haired character gave a light shrug. "Then again, a lot of things from the past are rather dark."  Blue-hazel eyes looked to the girl, as if begging for the conversation to continue with some hint of candy. That taste of the Belgian chocolate before had him craving for more of the sweet.

"Speaking of preserved bodies, wasn't there something kind of like that from Ancient Egypt or something?"

"Mummification," she said, reaching into her other pocket to pull out candy. Fruit flavored kind, this time. "They salt the body to dry it out. It prevents the growth of bacteria, therefore eliminating decay," Autumn basically recited. She had learned about ancient Egypt in her summer academy. She did well on the unit. A lot of history, math, and science were involved. And those were her favorite subjects. She hoped she didn't sound like a know-it-all, though, realizing how robotic her voice had sounded just then.

"So you don't know anything about Beauxbatons either?" Autumn asked.

She was beiginning to get discouraged in her search for information on it. Everyone had told her that she needed to experience it for herself.

A Girl's Name? Empty Re: A Girl's Name?

Julie-Pierre was liking this girl more and more. It may have been the fact that she already seemed to have a bottomless put of sweets to fill his mouth with cavities, but it was really her oddness. In all honesty, the boy loved all things odd. One could argue he loved himself, with him being such an overly quirky person than normal. The boy couldn't help but be fascinated by things from the past, especially the things so strange that one could only hope they could find the end to the never-ending labyrinth that was despair.

It was nice to learn a bit of mummification again. That was what it was called, then. The German boy previously had it on the tip of his tongue, so hearing it be said both relieved him that he was right but also angered him that he hadn't blurted it out sooner.

Then came the question about his knowledge on Beauxbatons.

"No, actually," he said. "But, now I'm a bit curious on it. Then again, I've always been one for strange stuff." His smile widened to where it seemed he could naturally grin from ear to ear.

Autumn shook her head. "I am utterly confused about Beauxbatons. People have been giving me mixed opinions when all I want to know are facts."

Autumn smiled sheepishly after her miniature rant. "I guess I'm just annoyed with it all. I just want to go to school with some preparation. I literally know nothing about the school."

Autumn sighed. She was already homesick. She already missed speaking Dutch, even though she thought it was a disgusting language.

"So what have you bought from our school supplies list? I have everything except books, I believe."

Autumn grabbed a piece of bubblegum from the candy she had placed on the table and put it in her mouth, just for something to do.

A Girl's Name? Empty Re: A Girl's Name?

Post by Julie-Pierre Krischstein Wed Sep 17, 2014 11:25 am

The red-haire boy was a bit surprised with the brunette's abrupt distress. Although it was sudden, it was understandable that she had it. He now remembered that Beauxbatons was the name of the school he was attending, his sleepiness still apparent, much to his dismay.

However, the fact autumn was so confused of the matter was confusing itself. If she was going to such a school, surely she was a knowledgeable witch for one her age. It always seemed these sorts of wizardry schools brought in prodigies. That, or every wizard and witch themselves were prodigies all on their own.

As Julie-Pierre grabbed a red coloured hard candy from the pile, he heard Autumn's question.

"Last I checked, I have all I need," he said. "Do you want me to help you to double check your stuff?"

Autumn could tell that Julie-Pierre was still sleepy. Candy wasn't exactly going to wake him up, but she doubted that he drank coffee. Autumn was positive that she was the only eleven-year-old that liked it.

He looked puzzled, but Autumn could not find a reason as to why he could be. So she decided it was best not to ask. Maybe it was some sort of private thought.

"You can help if you want.," Autumn agreed. She reached into her bag and threw the list on the table, followed by an ink pen "Will you read those off for me? Just put a mark next to the ones I have."

The boy looked to Autumn as she looked a little confused, the look no better than his. Had he confused her with his confusion. As sad it was, it was also a little funny for one outside the situation.

The girl accepted Julie-Pierre offer to help, smiling that he could do something for someone. It was nice he could do something. As he was given a list and pen, he began to read off on the list at a normal speed, allowing Autumn time to check her things to make sure the item was there. The boy had almost forgotten about someone of these, himself, and he wouldn't have had them if not for his family. As bad as his father seemed, he had to thank him sometimes for what he did.

It seemed most of the items on the list had been checked off. There were only a few pieces left, it seemed. If things kept up, she would actually have all the items she needed.

As Julie-Pierre called off items, Autumn checked her belongings carefully. It appeared that she had everything she needed, besides her books.

Autumn sighed. "I guess I will have to get my books. Everything else is there."

Autumn didn't really want to leave, but she had to. She would miss having company. But she'd see Julie-Pierre at school hopefully. She didn't know if different houses mingled at all, but it was worth hoping for.

"I guess that I will see you at school," Autumn said collecting her stuff. "It was nice to meet you, Julie-Pierre."

She smiled at him, turned on her heels and headed towards the exit of La Petit Dragon.
