Butterbeer Experience Empty Butterbeer Experience

Perhaps it would've been wise if Persephone had actually written out the ever-growing, long mental list of things in the wizarding world that she had yet to experience. Even though she was of partial magic-blood, the girl had spent much of her life in the muggle world and therefore missed out on much of the wonders of the magic, though she had been told highly about them and had even read a story or two of it.

Butterbeer was one of the many things on that list in her mind, and within moments of entering the pub, Percy new exactly what she wanted to do first. "I would like to try a butterbeer!" She announced, tugging on the sleeve of her father. The man smiled down upon his daughter and remarked that they would be eating first before going shopping so she was more than enough welcome to buy a drink to go along with the meal.

Skipping away from her father's side, change jingling in her pocket, the girl approached the bar and placed her order, placing down the amount of change she was carrying with her. Within moments, the waiter was back with her drink and upon collecting the money that was to pay for it, smiled to himself as he shook his head and gave some of it back to Persephone. "You gave me more than necessary," he explained and then walked off.

Holding the bubbly drink in both hands, the girl walked away to sit down at a table and wait for her father to accompany. It wasn't until she had seated herself that she noticed someone else had had their eye on the spot, but she had claimed it first. "Oh! Silly me! If you want to sit here as well, be my guest!" She invited, and opened her arms as if to signify she accepted them at her table. Taking a sip from the drink, she felt the warmth of it slide down her throat and giggled. "It tastes like liquid happiness! And bubbles."

Finlay's mother looked around distastefully as they walked into the pub together. Catrina's designer pantsuit was out of place in the small pub, and she looked wary of the dirty napkins and empty glasses sitting at the tables.
"Mum, I'm gonna get a drink, okay?" Finlay asked and his mother frowned.
"Other people have drunk from those glasses." She looked very anxious but Finlay just smiled. Like other young boys, he cared very little about germs and thought his mother was overreacting. He just shook his head and went to buy his drink. As he went to claim a table with butterbeer in hand, a girl his age sat at his desired table. He stopped in his tracks, but accepted the girl's offer to share the table. At her childish behavior he smiled uncomfortably. This girl was strange, but perhaps they could be friends.

Luckily, the boy accepted invitation to her table instead of arguing over it. She liked working out problems peacefully like this rather than fighting. Fighting was just horrible and always made her feel sad.

Taking another sip of butterbeer through her bendy straw, the girl eyed the boy with shinning bright green eyes. He had yet to say anything yet, but at least he seemed like a nice person. "I've never had a butterbeer before," Persephone relayed. "This is the first thing I can successfully cross off of my list of things to do in the wizarding world!" She announced, cheerfully as always, and then sipped some more to feel the bubbles in her nose.

"I'm Percy, by the way. What's your name?"

The girl had never had butterbeer before? Weird. "Are you muggle-born or something?" He sipped his flown drink. And who keeps a list of things to do while in a place they'll be in for the rest of their lives? But he did have to admit, her cheerfullness was fun.
"Percy? Isn't that a boy's name?" He giggled. "My name's Finlay."

The term 'muggleborn' was one she was not readily familiar with it, but Persephone had enough brains in her skull to work the term out on her own. He was asking her if she was born from a muggle. Persephone shook her head and then added, "Does it matter?" not to be sassy or controversial, the girl just honestly didn't see why something like what her parents were to be important when meeting new people. She was, however, glad that the boy was now talking to her.

She laughed when he accused her name of being a boys name. She wasn't aware that names had genders and it was funny to think that they could. "Well, I am a girl and they call Percy, so..." She drifted off. "Oh! But it's short for Persephone!" She added, hastily, as if that might help to answer his question.

"That's such a cute name!" Persephone chimed. "I can call you Finny for short!" She decided. Just then her father returned with the food, smiling at Percy's new friend and placed Percy's order in front of her. "Yaay! Thanks, Papa!" Within moments her fork was diving into the surface of potatoes as the hungry young girl munched away. "This is my new friend, Finny! Finny, this is my Papa. Doesn't the food here have the strangest names? I couldn't even pronounce the name of this meal and it's just potatoes!"

Finlay supposed that blood status didn't matter, he just found it odd that the girl had never tasted butterbeer. Finlay himself was friends with many muffled, but meeting someone in La Petit Dragon that had never had the beverage was strange to him. The girl's explanation of her name made a lot of sense, but either way he thought it was a lovely name. He tried hard to hate the nickname the Percy had given him, but actually liked it.
When the girl introduced her father he looked around for his mother, waving her over. He laughed at the girl's comment on the food but his mother's frown seemed permanent. "Mum, this is Percy and her dad."

Persephone beamed as she ate her potatoes and drank her bubbly butterbeer. The day had only just begun and already she could tell that she was going to love her new school, if all were as nice as Finny. Though as the boy called over his mother to join them, Percy couldn't help but notice the frown that appeared to be permanently stamped onto her face. Nonetheless, Percy greeted her as friendly as she had with Finny. Walter Grimm even stood up and offered his hand to shake towards the lemon faced woman.

"Everything here is so weird! I can't wait to go to school and explore it all, though," Persephone chatted through mouthful of potatoes. "We're shipping for my school supplies today! Papa says that I can get my very own pet to take to school with me as a special treat! Isn't that right?" She continued and then finally swallowed the amount of potatoes in her mouth. She looked towards Walter to agree, which he did and grinned all the more. "I wanna get a ferret!"

Finlay couldn't help but smile at Percy's enthusiasm. Though he had been worried about being cut off from his friends and the lack of cell phone reception, he had the feeling he would enjoy his time at school. He giggled as potatoes flew from the girl's mouth while she talked. His eyes little up at the mention of pets.
"Mummy can I have a pet? Please?" He begged. His mother sighed but gave a put-upon node. Finlay squeeled.

Persephone was glad that Finny liked pets. She couldn't imagine herself trusting someone who didn't like animals. It just seemed sick to not think of them as alive as well. She grinned as Finny begged his mother to get a pet as well and cheered along with her new friend as his stiff mother agreed. Walter laughed at the children's enthusiasm.

"Our pets should be friends as well!" Persephone insisted, as if such a thing were possible. She scraped at her plate to get the remainder of the potatoes and finished it off. "Mmmmmh. Did you know there's supposed to be a candy store in amethyst alley that has wizard candies!? Wizard candies! Not muggle ones! But magical sweets!"

Finlay enjoyed the prospect of his pet having a friend, as he didn't want it to be lonely. But he was unsure of what type of creature to get. "What sort of pet should I get? Something cool and fun." His eyes little up at the mention of sweets. "Mum can we get some?" She nodded and he grinned.

His questioned seemed to her like it had an obvious answer. "Get a ferret, of course!" She replied, stuffing another hefty amount of potatoes into her mouth. "But then again, you don't have to. There's plenty of pets to choose from! I'm sure you'll find the perfect one!" She almost wanted to drag the boy to the pet shop right then and there, but had to be reminded that she was to finish eating first and then was to finish her school shopping before she could do such things. Perhaps, with luck, they'd meet up again later in the day and then they could go.

A day with new friends, pets and sweets sounded like one of a fairy tale to Persephone, which is why she was practically squealing with delight as she tried to finish up her lunch. She wondered if everyday at her new school would be like that. In truth, she didn't know much about Beauxbatons at all, just that her mother had attended school there and therefore her dad wanted her to do the same rather than going to Hogwarts, like he had.

"Do you know about the school? Beauxbatons, I mean?" Persephone started, her tone becoming more of a sober one. "I heard there is an evil thing called 'the sorting ceremony' which all new students have to go through. Whatever the ceremony is, it ultimately chooses which house we will be in. Scary, huh?"
