Look Out! Empty Look Out!

Mrs. Rowand had her young daughter by the hand and was keeping an eye on her timid son. Zachary was annoyed that his mother brought his sister along. She was eight and annoying and whiny. His mother snagged a table and handed him money to go up to the counter to order butterbeers.

Now, this should’ve been a simple task, but because this is Zachary Rowand executing it. Ordering the drinks turned into a debacle. He was walking up to the counter and got distracted looking at his feet (eye contact scared the living daylights out of him). So, Zach ended up crashing into an unsuspecting bystander and fell back onto some poor girl.

“O-oh my g-god.” He spluttered and scrambled to get up then helped her up. His face was burning and he was so embarrassed. “I’m s-so sorry.” He looked up at her shyly. The people that were there with the girl were giving him strange looks and it was making him so nervous.

Alex was walking back from the bathroom when someone crashed into her. She yelped loudly and was sent flying onto her back. She was absolutely mortified. Charlie was moving her way onto Philip's lap when her sister was bulldozed. This was going to be a disaster of epic proportions. "I-I-I-It's f-f-f-fine." Alex stuttered and wrapped her arms around herself, trying very hard to make herself disappear. However, when she looked at the boy again he was still looking. Brilliant. "I-I-I should've been looking. I look-look at my feet. B-Bad habit." She squeaked awkwardly. "I'm sorry." Alex wanted someone to kill her. In fact she'd do it herself if someone armed her. This was so terrible.

Zach kind of wanted to die right on the spot. “N-n-no, d-don’t apologize.” He quickly shook his head. “I h-have a bad h-habit o-of looking at m-my feet too. T-totally my f-fault.” He murmured quietly and ran a hand through his hair, making the back stick up slightly. Zachary glanced over to his mother and sister, who was giving him an interesting look. Oh, god. His mother was going to ask him questions galore. “I’m s-so sorry.” He mumbled again. This was so embarrassing.

“C-can I do a-anything to make it up to you?” He found himself asking her. What on earth was he going to do? Call a dolphin to the pub so she could talk to it? That would only make things worse and draw even more attention to them.
