Motion Sickness Empty Motion Sickness

Post by Osmund Hollow Sun Mar 03, 2013 12:28 pm

How embarrassing. The boy sat by his own, taking care to be far away from the others. His usual pale face was even paler and he was nearly doubled over in his own misery. Looking out a window had helped nought, but neither was sitting in the carriage away from the window and letting the swaying motion of the carriage make his stomach churn like it was. He wasn't sure if he could put up with this year after year in order to get to school each year. Why couldn't their parents just apparate them there? Sure, the muggleborns wouldn't be able to, but that would have to be their own problem.

With turbulence setting in, the eleven-year-old let out an involuntary moan. He sure hoped that every was involved in their own business so that they didn't notice him. He was sure how he could put up with being known as the kid that got sick on the carriage ride in. "Please be over soon," he pleaded to himself.

Motion Sickness Empty Re: Motion Sickness

Stumbling along to the carriage, Katie wished that her trunk hadn't gone with everything else in the carriage for luggage. Opening a door to the carriage she swung herself inside and sitting on a seat and shut her eyes for a moment to catch her breath, why did Mum and Dad say we had to take the car? She thought to herself. Opening her eyes, she got her first look around the carriage, it looked sickeningly girly and Katie groaned to herself when she realised that the school would be like this, all girly and everything.

Looking to the person opposite, she started to splutter out apologies, "Sorry!" She said, "I didn't mean to interrupt, its just that there are no more seats..." Stopping herself and taking a good look at the person, she smiled when she sort of recognised the person standing there. "Mund?" Katie said, remembering the boy from the Quidditch store in Amethyst Alley. "Its nice to see you again."

Omsund had been too absorbed within himself and his own misery that he had hardly noticed the people around him, moving around the carriage and trying to find a seat. The carriage was inconveniently small and cramped, so there weren't that many open spots. Unfortunately, this meant it was unavoidable that someone was to sit with him.

His sickened face looking up to meet the familiar one, the boy hadn't the strength to argue. At least it was one of the more agreeable people he had met on his school shopping trip. "'Atie," he replied half-heartily in response to the nickname she had given him and nodded to allow her to sit. "I feel bloody awful. I don't see how you can stand it."

Raising an eyebrow, Katie looked to the boy opposite her in concern, opening her mouth to say something, but closing it once again once the boy had said his explanation. Looking out of the window she looked at the scenery flying past, despite her earlier worries of it being too girly, she found the ride quite nice, well outside the window that is.

Smiling a bit at the nickname, her face went into a small frown, "what? Stand it? Oh! Motion Sickness." Katie said, realisation hitting her, looking to just above the boys head she said, "I don't think I've ever really got it," the redhead confessed, "But my little sister does, and believe me, she was sick all the time in the car. Dad gave her something to stop it... Hang on a moment."

Digging into her jacket pocket, Katie's fingers closed around a little packet which held the thing her dad gave Maddy when she was ill, "This are something to stop Motion Sickness, you can have them if you want." She said, passing them over to her friend. If she didn't get sick, and she wouldn't need then, then she might as well give them to someone else.

"Don't say it out loud." Just the phrase made his stomach churn even more. The boy brought his knees up to his chest and held them tight with his arms. He sure hoped he made it to school without any accidents. There was already the threat of him being known as a book-sniffer, he didn't need to also be known as the kid that got sick on the first day of school.

A cure sounded a bit nice. The boy wasn't too familiar with being like this, never having rode in a muggle auto-mobile and brooms were something different. On a broom, Osmund was aware he was in control and there was fresh air rather than this swaying carriage lead by flying horses.

His hand extended for whatever helped Atie's sister and closed around the cool object once it was placed in his hand. "A piece of candy?" Osmund questioned. Sweets sounded like the opposite of pleasing at that current moment, but with a shrug, the boy unwrapped the red and white striped piece and placed it in his mouth, letting the taste of peppermint spread through it and waiting for it to work it's magic.

Motion Sickness Empty Re: Motion Sickness

Katie leaned back in her seat and crossed her arms as 'Mund took the peppermint sweet from her, she hoped that it would work, after all, she didn't really want to be stuck with him and then have to do something with sick. Katie shuddered slightly, she wasn't to good with sickness.

"It should help," She stated, looking down to her hands and twisting them around, "But everybody's different aren't they?" The redhead continued on, her eyes flickering around it nervously, "I just hope it works." She finished off her little monologue hurriedly and a faint blush spread across her cheeks.

Pulling out another sweet, this time a box of Bertie Botts from a bag she had completely forgotten about, she put one in her mouth and winced when she felt grass against her tongue. Swallowing it with her eyes shut she opened them and looked across, "I'm not to good with people," She mumbled.

"You mean this could possibly not work at all!?" Osmund replied, almost spitting out the peppermint then and there. The excitement had brought another lurch to his stomach, though, so the boy sat back down and tried to calm himself down, before he let all of his breakfast go. His arms returned to holding his knees to his chest as he rested his head upon the top of them, swaying with the motions of the carriage. He wasn't feeling much better and felt even more sick when he saw Katie start eating bertie botts every flavoured beans. She had made a face and Osmund immediately thought she had gotten the vomit flavoured one, the irony not seeming a bit funny as he felt sorry for her if she had.

A sad laugh graced Osmund's face as she mentioned she wasn't too good with people. "Welcome to the club," Osmund replied, knowing how the people he had met in Amethyst Alley looked at him. They probably thought he was rude and stuck up, but it was all in his blood and it never seemed to help that he had accepted that part of himself and never looked remorseful when people brought it up.

Katie rolled her eyes, "Realx Mund!" I'm sure it'll work, but then again you are stubborn, so," She shrugged her shoulders, "I don't really know, but it worked on Maddy so all is going to be fine!" The red head was being a bit optimistic by saying that the peppermint sweet would work.

"Well, when we get to Beauxbatons, we will have to make a club all about it then!" Katie laughed, wrapping her arms around herself. People, she wasn't the bets around them, it was actually a miracle that she had even managed to keep the boy as a friend for longer than five minutes, she either would have started rambling on about Quidditch or just sat there and been straight out awkward.
