Shopping Stress

Post by Guest on Sun Aug 03, 2014 12:47 pm

Claudette was stressed. Not the regular kind of stress, but the kind of stress you get from SHOPPING. Shopping was beautiful to Claudette. She only went to the Dragon to simply get a break. She didn't order butterbeer because she simply didn't like it. Claudette looked over her big, fat shopping list. She has already gotten her Sleekeazy hair stuff, and her books for school, and she has yet to get robes and delicous candy. Candy would be the highlight of her day.

But something stuck to her mind like a Post-it note. The little kitten in the shop window! Never mind the candy, Claudette wanted that cat! Her parents said she could get a pet if she had enough money left. To ease her mind off the stress and the kitten, Claudette was reading a Teen Vogue magazine. Oh, so bowties are very trendy right now, she thought to herself as she read the magazine.

Guen still wasn't back from her shopping with Trent. Riley was just waiting for her to get back so he could start his shopping. Until then, he'd read his comics over and over. He decided that a butterbeer would be nice since he had been sitting there for a while. He carefully put his things into his messenger bag and went to order himself a drink.

When he returned to his table, there was someone sitting there. He bit his lip, he thought about leaving but he couldn't avoid people. "Hello," he said when he reached the table. "Mind if I sit with you?" He avoided making eye contact, he was so nervous to talk to someone.

Claudette really enjoyed teen magazines. No joke. Unlimited articles about fashion and gossip. She saw a nerdy boy come up to her and ask her if he could sit at her table. "Yeah dude, go ahead. I'm not waiting for anyone." she said. She spied a comic book the boy was reading. "You read comics?" Claudette asked. She wasn't the type of person to read and collect comics, but superheroes were pretty cool.

She remembered the kitten in the window and started to daydream about it. Oh, giving it a little dish of food, it cuddling up to her, it was simply dreamy. "I want that cat..." she whispered, not sure if the boy could hear her. Claudette went back to her magazine. After a while, she got bored, so she got a marker and drew mustaches on everyone in the magazine. That was very typical of Claudette to ruin her magazines that way. But, hey, who cares?

He pulled out his comic book and began to read again. He was never one to talk to strangers, but she didn't seem like the type to say anything rude. He might be able to trust her. He looked up when she started talking. "Yeah, I love comics," he said softly. He was never seen without his comic books. He had about ten and he wanted his collection to grew. Thor had to be his favorite.

He raised an eyebrow as she began to talk about a cat. He chose not to say anything, maybe she was just a scatterbrain that just talked about anything. He tried to go back to his comic, but he noticed that she began to draw on the magazine she had been reading. "Personally, I think they look better that way." He grinned.

Claudette's stress was starting to reside a bit. Her parents trusted her to get her school supplies by herself. She drew a twirly mustache and bushy eyebrows on a model for some perfume. "Yes, mustaches on models are really awesome!" she added and smirked afterwards.

Claudette wondered if the boy was going to Beauxbatons as well as her. He just might be.The only way I would know is if I asked him, she thought. "So, are you going to Beauxbatons?" Claudette asked. It was the original, bland way to ask someone something. "By the way, I'm Claudette." she added.

Models were too thin in his opinion, they looked like they were going to fall over and pass out. That wasn't healthy at all. He felt kind of bad for the people that looked like that, so weak and fragile. He nodded in agreement. "They're too skinny," he noted. "Looks like they could pass out at any moment." It was almost scary to think about.

"Yeah," he answered. His older sister also went to Beauxbatons so he knew a little bit about the place before actually going there. At least he had someone that would be there for him. He couldn't wait to see the palace for himself yet he was afraid that he would somehow get lost just by taking a few steps. "I'm Riley," he grinned. "Pleased to meet you." It was always nice to use manners.

Claudette agreed with him. Models were way too thin. But she herself wasn't too far from being skinny. She stayed silent and nodded her head. "I only read the magazines for FASHION! It's my entire life!!!" she said excitely. Fashion was her life. Claudette hoped she would walk down the runway one day.

"Awesome. So we're both going to Beauxbatons. My parents went there. They excelled in Care of Magical Creatures. Of course, why wouldn't they own a unicorn ranch?" Claudette said. It was nice to know that someone else was going to the school. She thought she would make friends at school. But, it's now or never.

He didn't read magazines, he was more into comics. Comics were so perfect. He wished that his life was like a comic, he was the hero and the main character. But in real life, he was just plain old Riley. There was nothing special about him. At least nothing he knew about since he knew nothing about his birth family and what they were like. His hand fingered the ring around his neck. "Comics are my life," he grinned.

He had never seen a unicorn before. They sounded like beautiful creatures and he wanted to see one for himself. "I've never seen a unicorn before," he admitted. "Are they pretty?"

Claudette was surprised that Riley has never seen a unicorn. "O-M-G! You've never seen a unicorn?! Well, they are white horses with a twisted horn on their head. Their foals are pure gold in color and their coats turn silver and then white when they get older. You should see one in the winter, their coats are so bright white they make the snow look gray in comparison." she went on and on. Truth is, Claudette could talk all day about unicorns.

"So Riley, do you have anything special in your life?" she asked. Listening to other people babble about their lives was kind of touching for Claudette.

A blush formed on his face at the girl's sudden outburst. Has everyone seen a unicorn before? Was he again the odd one out? He listened as she began to explain the topic of unicorns. They sounded like beautiful creatures and he wanted to meet them in person. He wondered if Beauxbatons had some, they probably did. A small girl spread across his face as she compared the unicorn to snow. "I'll have to see them for myself," he said softly.

Special in his life? Did he have anything? He couldn't think of anything really. Well, besides his adoptive family. "I was recently adopted and I kinda like my new family." He didn't want to get too into it since he hardly knew the girl.

"If you take Care of Magical Creatures at Beauxbatons, you're most likely to see one. I probably won't take the class because I'm way more interested in Melodic Studies." Claudette said. The extra classes weren't until third year, but you could always plan ahead of time. There's a gooooooooood three years until that.

Her ears perked up when she heard that he was adopted. "Oh, that's pretty good. I've had some friends who got adopted and it absolutely sucked. You must be one of the lucky ones." Claudette said. Now that she thought about it, not ever getting getting adopted at an orphanage was downright depressing.

Animals weren't really Riley's thing. But Care of Magical Creatures sounded a bit interesting. Or he could just go see where the unicorns lived instead of taking the actual class. He had a feeling that he wouldn't be too good at that. "You like music? So do I." Along with comics, his taste in music stayed the same. He could count on his music and comics to always be there for him no matter what. Even if itwas just him singing, it was still music. He had been in enough cars to hear the different styles of music people listened to. He had yet to have a favorite. "No matter what, music is there."

He had been through what she was talking about. He had been to so many homes that he lost count, he even spent time in a boys' home. That's where he met David and found a love for comics because of his old friend. "This time I was lucky, I used to not be so lucky." He was a bit bitter about his past but now he was determined to change the way things were.

"Yeah, music is awesome. I don't mean to brag or anything, but I have a good voice. But I don't sing in public. Especially not here." Claudette replied. It was one thing performing for people in public, but not just simply singing in an outburst. That was odd. Now that she was thinking about it, those older teens sitting over there wouldn't want to hear a little kid singing.

The foster system seems horrible. I wonder how the kid survived, Claudette thought. "Wow dude, I feel for you." she said.

"On the other hand, have you met any other kids who are also going to Beauxbatons?" she asked Riley. She had to at least know if there were any other kids she had yet to makes friends with.

Singing was ahobby of his and he thought he did well. But he would never sing in front of anyone, he'd die of embarassment. "Talent like that shouldn't be wasted," he warned. He should be taking his own advice. "If you sing well then you should go for it. I mean, don't burst out randomly in song. But when you get the chance then you should really try." Where was this advice coming from? Was it just him wanting a friend? Or was it the fact that he was actually around people that weren't forced to be there?

He didn't need anyone to feel sorry for him, it was just the way his life was. He couldn't change it even if he wanted to . He had thouhght about it before though. When had first found out about being a wizard he wondered if he could somehow go back in time. But, he gave up on that silly dream. Nothing was going to change.

"I met a few people," he admitted. "The first person I met was a boy named Bo. He seemed friendly enough."

"Oh, thanks for the advice." Claudette said. She looked down on her muggle cellphone. Hey, who said a Pureblood couldn't have a iPhone and take good selfies? Well, her mother was expecting her back in muggle Paris, and Claudette's reaction was always a long sigh.

"Hey Riley, I have to go because my mum wants me, so you'll see me at Beauxbatons. Don't be surprised if I have bright red hair." she said. It was bad to leave someone in mid-conversation and even worse if you were doing it for your own mother. Claudette waved at Riley and went out the door.

{OOC: I'm DONE with the thread!!}
