Awkward Meetings Empty Awkward Meetings

Post by Guest Mon Aug 04, 2014 9:45 pm

Riley and Guen had taken a break from shopping to go back to the pub and sit and relax. When they arrived, Guen noticed someone she knew and she told him that she'd be back. So, he was left alone again. He sighed and took a seat at an empty table. His hands ran over the comics in his bag. But he had no time to read because soon he was approached by a girl. She looked out of her element almost as much as he did. It looked like they would get along. Well, he thought she was approaching him. But instead, she was just approaching the table.

She told him that that had been her seat and that she had to get up to go down something. A bright blush appeared on the boy's face as she explained herself. "I'm sorry. Do you want me to get up?" He was so embarrassed.

Aurora had gotten up to go run and get another cup of Butterbeer, which was surprisingly good, but nothing compared to the Apple cider she was used to drinking. However when she'd gotten back to her table it was being occupied by a boy. She wasn't mad or anything, but her things were on the seat next to him, was thought it had been obvious that table had been occupied. "Ummm hi," she started. She wasn't sure how to tell him that this was her table, without being rude. "Oh, yeah...so I was sitting here and yeah..." She said awkwardly.

The boy looked confused at first and then a look of apology flooded his face and he started to get up quickly. Aurora shook her head and grinned, "No, it's fine." She shrugged. "I'm Aurora, but most people just call me Rory. Nice to meetcha!" She said with a little click of Okie t'wang in her voice. Being from the country side, she'd developed a bit of an accent and hoped it wasn't too dorkie.

It seemed like he couldn't apologize enough. He found himself saying sorry about one hundred time. Well, maybe not that much. But it was enough times for the words to get stuck in his brain. He quickly shut his mouth when she said he could continue to sit. Stop being so awkward, Riley. He couldn't help himself, he was just so nervous and timid.

"Riley," he said softly. "Most people call me Riley," he tried to joke but it came out in more of a squeak. It wasn't as funny has he wanted it to be. He wasn't as funny as he wanted to be. He was just a dork. He chuckled nervously before pushing his glasses up his nose. Could he get anymore awkward?

Aurora giggled at the boy a little. She wasn't laughing at him, he was just awkwardly adorable and his jokes were pretty funny. "That was pretty funny." She chuckled and looked down at the floor. He seemed nice enough, and she was thankful that someone here also spoke English, seeing as she'd already been laughed at many time for mispronouncing the French in her dictionary. "So where are you from exactly?" She asked curiously with her little Okie t'wang, he should like he was from England, but she couldn't quite place it.

However, her accent seemed to throw a lot of people off, it wasn't very common, apparently, for a young girl from rural Kentucky to attend Beauxbatons. This alone got her a few confused and amused stares, as if her French wasn't enough.

"I've from lots of places," he teased. It was true. He had been shipped around so many times that he had lot track of how many places he had been. All of them where in England and he couldn't name them all. He had been on more airplanes than he could count. "I can't remember where I was born, but I know it was in England," he admitted. Being put in an orphanage really sucked.

"I was adopted recently." He usually wasn't so open about personal things but it was the only way to explain why he couldn't remember where he was born or why he lived in so many places. "I was only three when I went into the foster system." While growing up, he had nothinbg better to do than read comics, excell in school, and learn as much as he possibly could. He didn't have any friends so it made it easier to focus on the things that were most important to him. By the age of tem, he knew a lot of French and a bit of Spanish. All he wanted was to better himself. "So, where are you from?"

Aurora smiled and nodded as she listened about he had gone into the foster system at a young age. Auroa couldn't directly relate to that, but she didn't want to leave him in the dark. "Well....I can kind of relate...I suppose, um..I don't have a mom?" She shrugged. "I can't remember her, even from the time she was there, when I was about 3." She shrugged. She wasn't going to say it didn't bother her, but she really know what she was missing. "But I have my Daddy, and Kale now." She smiled. "They mean the world to me, well them and my horse Penny." She grinned a little, thinking about her. "I may miss her more than my dads.." She laughed. "She's my best friend."

Glancing over at Riley she smiled, "You don't think I'm weird for having a horse as a best friend, do you?" She asked and smirked a little, he didn't seem like the type for judging someone, but then again, neither was she.

He didn't want anyone feeling sorry for him, there was nothing to fedl sorry about. Life was life. That's just how his life was. But he was bit surprised that she said that she could kind of relate. But she didn't relate much to him, his life was different from his. "My mom died," he admitted. His eyes widened when she talked about when she had lost her mother. "I was three too." He couldn't believe that they had that in common. "I don't know who my dad was, he left my mom and didn't want me or my brother." If he had wanted them, things would have been much different.

"No, that's not weird." He liked to think that Thor was his best friend and he wasn't even real. He didn't want to admit that in fear he would get laughed at.

Aurora looked at the boy then looked down. "I'm sorry for your loss." She hadn't meant to tell him that her mother was actually deceased, "My mother is still alive, she just left my father when I was younger...." She started and sighed. "But then my father found Kale and they're both perfect, I couldn't ask for anything more. I love them, and they love me..." She smiled small.

However, when the young boy said his father didn't want him. "Oh....golly.." She bit her lip. "I'm sure that's not true....sometimes people do things that they think at the time is the best, and then when they want to change it...it's too late." She sighed. "You're too nice for anyone to think that..." She said and gave him a small smile.

"Besides!" She suddenly exclaimed. "Now you've got a new friend with a horse." She laughed a little. "You won't be alone." She smiled at him and held out her hand. "Friends?"

He didn't like when people said they were sorry over his mother's death. They had nothing to do with it so why would they feel sorry? That was only one way of viewing it, he knew there were other ways. But he still didn't like it. "At least you have your dad," he said. He didn't mean to be bitter about it but how else was he supposed to feel? He envied the kids that had loving homes with their real parents. He was shipped from home to home from orphanage to orphanage. But if it wasn't for that then he wouldn't be the person he was today

"I wish I could talk to him," he admitted. "I wish I knew my brother. I could ask him why he gave up on me and I could tell my brother that I love him." Granted he had never met his brother, but he loved him nonetheless. "I wonder if he really did regret it, I wonder if he knows my mom is dead. I wonder a lot of things."

He grinned and put his hand in hers. "Yeah, friends." It was nice to have a friend. He wouldn't be so alone.

Aurora nodded understandingly, she wished she could see her mother, get to know her, learn more about herself. Her father had always said that little Rory had looked just like her mom, and yet, she didn't have any pictures or memories of the woman. In a way, it was sad, but she was thankful for what she did have. "Oh yes...I'm thankful for him and everyone around me, especially Penny." She trailed off a bit sadly.

"Now I have friend to keep me sane here." She laughed a little. "So what do you like to do?" She asked him. She figured that now that they were friends that they should get to know each other, a least a little bit.

It only seemed like a short period of time had gone by when Guenevere came over and asked him if he was ready to continue shopping. He was in a bit of shock by the question, he had never been asked what to do. He had never had control of things. Sure it was one small little thing but to him it was so much more than that. It was a step. "I'm sorry, Aurora, but I must go with Guenevere." He couldn't quite call her his sister just yet. At least not out old. If she heard him call her his sister than that was a chance for her to take advantage of him. He couldn't put himself into that situation.

"I hope we see each other soon," he said before getting up. "Happy shopping." He walked out the door behind his adoptive sister. It was nice to have a friend.
