Professor Bowen was always glad to see new players on both qudditch teams. This year they had several new players along with three new announcers. They had filled all the spots for announcer after two years, which made the professor happy. It was the captains' last year at Beauxbatons so things were going to be intense, players were going to perform their best. The sun was shining and clouds covered the sky, a perfect day. She grinned as the teams made their way onto the field. "Its nice to see some new faces," she smiled proudly at her choses of players.

"I want a nice game, everyone better be on their best behaviors," she warned the teams. "Captain shake hands." Once the captains shook hands, Bowen released the balls and blew her whistle. The game had begun.

Christine believed herself to be much improved since first joining the Quidditch team back when she'd been a mere first year. This year would be her most successful year to date. She swung her bat and nodded. Oh yes. Fourteen was a good age to be. She was much stronger than ever before and would be able to hit those iron balls with ease.

"Stephie," she called out to her sister once she was up in the air, "we'll win this year for sure." Stephanie had managed to catch the snitch in the last game of last year. Thus Stephie believed it to be an omen of good luck for Cerisier this year. "We'll go well this year Cerisier," she added and then she was flying after a bludger and hitting it toward a Montagnard player. Yes. It would be good this year.

After the long bitter disappointments of losing so many games the final game of last year had fired up within Stephanie. She was determined to win this year. It was her final year at Beauxbatons and she wanted to do ever so much better than she had in recent years. She faced her team in the change rooms before the match with a serious business like look on her face, a look she'd practised in the mirror earlier. "We've all worked hard in practice. Now I want you all to do as well in this match. We may have lost the cup in the past but that is now behind us as is that one match we won. Don't focus on past victories or losses. Focus on today's match and what we need to accomplish in order to win."

It was the wordiest speech she'd ever made and Stephanie thought she'd remembered everything she practised. Now to be true to her word and lead by example she would not do her best to catch the snitch. She would catch the snitch.

Out on the pitch under the best conditions within to play quidditch she faced the opposing captain and shook her hand as instructed by Professor Bowen. No longer did Mabel intimidate her. Stephanie had the other girl's measure. At the whistle she was off the ground and hovering above the game searching for the snitch with one distraction. Her sister. Christine just spoke in contractions? Stephanie nearly fell of her broom in shock. "Chris just do your job and stop babbling," she called back. And that was exactly what the younger girl did. Maybe miracles did happen.

New players were joining the Montagnard team which meant extra practice for everyone. It was Mabel's final year at Beauxbatons and she just wanted to get out already. But, she had wait just like everyone else. She'd be lying if she said she didn't care about the scores, even if she didn't care about anything else. She had no plans on continuing qudditch after school so this was her last chance to prove how awesome of a captain she was.

"Okay everyone," she spoke to her team, her eyes lingered on the new players. "I want everyone to perform their best today. No distractions, just get out there and do your job. Chasers, score as much as possible. Seeker, catch the stupid snitch. Everyone else, just do your job." That was the best they were going to get from the seventh year. She was hardly a motivational speaker.

On the pitch, she looked around the stands. There was Ezra being all cute like he always was. No distractions. She should take her own advice. She looked back at Stephanie as she shook her hand. There was no use in smack talk, so she kept her mouth shut as their hands shook. The whistle blew and they were up in the air. "Remember to do your best," she called to her team.

What was she doing? Since when did she have the confidence to try out for announcer? The worst part was, she had become an announcer. Her? The shy girl that no one hardly noticed? An announcer? It was like the world was coming to an end or something. There were far better people than her that would be perfectly capable of filling her spot. But yet there she was sitting in an announcer's chair. She only tried out for the spot because Cori wanted her to. She was ever so nervous to be up there. She hardly knew any quidditch terms.

She watched as the teams filed onto the field. Her hands shook so she sat on them to get them to stop. What was she going to do? What had she gotten herself into? "Um, h-hello," she said nervously into the mic. "The first goal of the season goes to Montagnard." She didn't know what else to say or do so she kept quiet. She hoped the other announcer would speak for the both of them.

Milan gritted her teeth and pursed her lips, taking a quick survey of the new players. Out of the Montagnards, at least it was Mabel and not a new player who had taken the first goal. Like Christine, Milan was confident that Cerisier had a good shot of winning. She'd practiced flying in the summer while her little brother threw some practice Quaffles for her to catch. Out of the corner of her eye she saw a Quaffle flying her way and nearly missed it. She tossed it to another Chaser but was intercepted, she had to admit it was a good interception. If this happens all because of me, I swear I'll crash my broom!, Milan nearly shrieked aloud. She burst her broomstick forward to tag the player, but the Quaffle quickly fell into the hands of Cerisier anyway.

She managed to calm down a bit, the heat was making her crabby. Pushing the hair out of her eyes she kicked off to join  the huddle of players vying for the Quaffle. Milan quickly guarded a Montagnard to catch a nice easy pass and was immediately surrounded by opponents. Feeling dizzy and focused, she made a deep, dangerous dive and lurched back up again with the Quaffle in her hands. With the goal only a short distance away, she could hear a small cheer of "Go Milan!" She wasn't sure who it was, but she smirked for the crowd anyway as she watched the Quaffle sail into the goalpost.

Heather nervously took the pitch. She would not ever admit it, but she was kind of terrified to be playing quidditch in front of people. However, the minute she kicked off she felt absolutely amazing. She didn't even check to see if Daniel was there. She was completely riding off of her own confidence and it was something she needed for matches. Heather flew right to the keep and steadied herself. Her nerves died down right away.

She'd stopped a couple early shots, but Milan managed to get one past her. Angrily the next time a chaser came even closer to her she smacked the quaffle right back into the chaser's face. The smack against the person's face sounded bad, but she wasn't sure. She caught it when the quaffle bounced off and passed it to the nearest chaser.

Charlie loved the look on Philip's face when she told him that she planned on becoming an announcer. It was more than a little adorable. Charlie honestly didn't know much about quidditch announcing, but she thought that this would be kind of fun. She greeted the fans to start the game with Indigo. Then she got distracted by Philip and her foot decided to do the talking from the back of her throat.

"Wow, Philip. You fly on that broom. Looking G-O-O-D. What a stunner. Nice face. Nice arms." Charlie giggled and then realized she was talking into the microphone. "Whoops. This was on. Sorry Philip."

Philip was excited for the quidditch season to start. He had been practicing all summer and working out and he was hoping that Mabel would notice this effort. Because let’s face it that tiny quidditch captain was scary and as the only returning chaser, Philip needed to step up his game. He was also excited because his amazing girlfriend was now a quidditch announcer. He grinned up at her in the announcer’s box then kicked off the ground at the start of the game.

Philip got the quaffle that Heather had bounced off of someone’s face. Looks like this girl was going to somewhat scary as well. He zoomed towards the Cerisier’s keep and shot the quaffle to the lower right post. Score. Another one for Montagnard. On his way back to take on a defensive position, he heard Charlie’s voice. Oh my god what was she doing!? He almost fell of his broom. Philip was definitely flattered and very happy she felt that way. He laughed then took a quick second to look at Charlie, shaking his head.

Cori bit her lip softly. She hated being stared at. The previous seeker for Montagnard brought a lot of bling to the Montagnard trophy case and Cori definitely wanted the tradition to continue. She also definitely wanted to be the one to continue that tradition. She was a little worried though. If she messed up in front of Indigo she didn't know what she was going to do. Not that she was worried about what her best friend thought of her. She wasn't. Nope. Not at all.

Cori took off into the air and took a deep breath. She searched the air for any sign of something glittering but couldn't yet. She heard a sound of wings flapping and took off in that general direction.

Harley was mad, to say in the least. There was no general reason or person who had caused her anger, just small events that had happened throughout the day that ticked her off more than usual. Maybe it was her subconscious way of preparing for the game, and anger certainly helped her swing harder, but once the whistle blew to kick off the ground, she shot into the air with her bat wrapped tight in her gloved hand.

She zipped around the field following the bludger with Mabel, smacking it in the general direction of any Ceriser player. She was vaguely listening to the announcers report what was happening, so she knew that Montagnard was winning, but only by a goal. After a while, she decided to start aiming towards specific people, and Milan, whether she deserved it or not, was her first target. When the bludger started towards Philip, she quickly darted forward and knocked it away from him and straight at Milan.

She hoped she wasn't doing a bad job. She wasn't sure what to do or say. She knew that Montagnard was in the lead so far but everyone could see that. She decided to talk about something else besides what was obviously going on. "Well, Montagnard has some new players this year. A new seeker, a beater, and a keeper." She could only name one of the new players, Cori. She was her best friend.

"I hope the new seeker, I mean Cori, catches the snitch," she grinned. She had full faith in her friend and she was sure that she would be able to catch the snitch.

Milan was still laughing from Heather's reaction, though she was trying to get serious so she wouldn't fall of her broom. It had been so comical, like one of those things you see on cartoons-and to think she had caused it. Well if she had managed to make her tick once, she sure wanted to do it again! She regained control of her wobbling broomstick and tried to concentrate on the Quaffle. Earlier she had intercepted it from a narrow shot, lost it for a few tosses, regained possession, then passed it off to another player. Typical. She caught side of the Quaffle midair and zeroed in on its anticipated target. Milan was starting to make the move, and just barely missed a Bludger heading top speed towards her. The cool metal brushed lightly against the side of her head. She winced as she thought about what would've happened if she'd stayed a moment too long in that spot. Turning around, she saw the source of the Bludger; Harley. Of course. Suppressing her rising annoyance, she put a smug little smile on her face and surged forward.

Unfortunately and unsurprisingly, she had lost track of the Quaffle. It was in the hands of another Cerisier Chaser, who was currently surrounded by opposing Chasers. She backed slowly so she was at a good position to receive a pass. She caught it with ease and flew to the goalposts at top speed, her hair flying in her face and barely able to make out anything from the cheering audience. Without a hesitation she aimed at the upper right goalpost and scored. Two out of three goals for Cerisier were made by her already, and she wasn't planning on stopping. She gave a little wave to the Keeper and flew back to the other Chasers.

No one had ever made Heather's blood boil harder than Milan. Heather's eye was practically twitching. Heather caught the next shot on goal from a Cerisier chaser and threw it as hard as she could down pitch. It wasn't hard for a Montagnard chaser to catch it and score the easy goal. Heather grinned at Milan and did a little wave. The nerve of such a loser to actually wave for scoring a goal. What a loser. Heather would murder her next chance she got. Heather finally calmed down a little, but now she was motivated. Good job in making a seething enemy on the pitch Rein. Heather caught another shot and threw it out to the Montagnard chasers again. Boom. Goal Montagnard.

Philip could see how annoyed the new keeper was getting with that Cerisier chaser. Yikes. He’d hate to be the one getting Heather’s wrath. But, enough getting distracted by other players. He had a game to play. He quickly intercepted a toss a Cerisier was making to another and excelled his speed, surging forward towards the posts. Philip tossed the quaffle to another Montagnard chaser and they scored. He grinned and flew back to play defense. He hoped that Mabel was somewhat impressed with his playing for the year so far. Philip knocked the quaffle out of a Cerisier’s hand and threw to a different chaser. He followed behind as back up.

Montagnard remained ahead of Cerisier but it all came down to who catch the snitch. Stephanie was more skilled than their new seeker but Mabel still had faith in her seeker. If she was unable to catch the snitch then she needed more practice and would receive more practice. No way was she going to have a loser seeker, not when they had been winning so many games.

"Heather! Don't mind her! Just focus your attention on your job!" She hated when players were cocky and the Cerisier chaser was terrible. She hoped the little troublemaker fell off her broom. "Good job!" She called to Philip and the other chaser. Teamwork was always the best way to get something done. Mabel zoomed towards a bludger and hit towards a blue and green clashed player.

It was easy to see how annoyed everyone was getting with Milan. From the way things were going, she wouldn't be surprised if someone pushed the annoying girl off her broom. Of course, that would get any of the Motagnard players in trouble, so it would be safer to just keep hitting the bludger towards her. Hopefully the next time Milan would be a little less lucky.

Harley surged forward on her broom with her bat ready to swing. She quickly blocked a bludger that was ready to knock Heather off her broom and redirected it with a powerful swing that sent it spiraling at Milan once again. If Harley could just hit her once, it would be worth the extra training and many broken bones.

Trent was so disappointed to hear that his girlfriend wouldn't be announcing the first game of the season. That's alright. He'd enjoy his girlfriend's voice soon enough he supposed. Trent hopped on his broom and flew around for a bit. He enjoyed the a defensive roll for most of the game. It was amusing to watch Milan showboat and attempt to make a mark worthy enough for a captain's vote. Which was good for her, she deserved to make a bid for the spot, but in Trent's opinion she was trying far too hard. Trent would've liked to think that his five years of contributions to the team and talent would garner the notes necessary to be captain, but maybe Milan would get it. No big deal.

Trent got a nice steal in between two Montagnard chasers and barreled up the field. He picked up the quaffle and whipped it as hard as he could. Trent felt bad, but grinned when it soar past his sister.

Cori was letting her nerves get to her. She must have flown in the same area about a hundred times. She knew Cerisier was in the lead already and the idea of losing freaked her out. She was flying around like a bat out of hell. She knew that she could do better next game, but she didn't want to disappoint her captain. She wanted her captain to win the snitch in her last year so she could go out on a high note. Plus the pressure was still on her back.

Before she could even blink Montagnard had scored twice more. She had to win now. Oh god this wasn't good. This wasn't good at all. Why had she let her family convince her she'd be a good seeker? She was going to be awful and everyone would hate her so much.

It didn't take long for Cerisier to fall behind, but as Trent was flying towards goal a whistle sounded to end the match. This made Trent stop abruptly and then grin widely when he saw Stephanie had caught it. He zoomed over to her and gave her a nice and big hi-five. It felt good to win. Maybe Stephanie was right, winning the last match last year was good luck for Cerisier's team. Maybe they would even win the cup this year.

Trent hurried to the dressing room to prepare himself for a date with Guen. If Cerisier won it was her treat and Trent was totally going to enjoy skipping the common room party for the opportunity to have dinner with his girlfriend.

Charlotte bit her lip gently. She felt pretty bad for embarrassing Philip, but this was only the beginning of a long road of accidentally giggling over her handsome boyfriend. "It's a stunning day for quidditch and as expected we're treated to a highly competitive and high scoring first game of the season. It is surprising to see how well the rookies are playing in this game. Other than Cori Arnett who seems hesitant the other players seem collected and ready to go."

Charlotte smiled when the match ended. "And just like that Cerisier ends with a come from behind victory. Stephanie has caught the snitch. This award one hundred and fifty points to Cerisier. Putting them at two hundred and twenty and will end the game as a Cerisier win."

Stephanie's focus was not on what the other players were doing. Today her focus was solely on what the snitch was doing. That and the bludgers. No sign of a snitch but she had managed to avoid being hit by any iron balls. She shot a look at the scoreboard and noted how close the scores were. Close and high. Her conclusion on that one: chasers on both sides were good and the keepers not so good.

Then she saw it. The flutter of gold. Stephanie shot off after it. She would not be beaten by the new seeker for Montagnard. Not this time. Her hand stretched out and went around the snitch. Now all they had to do was win again next game and the cup would be theirs. "Good work everyone," she said once all them were back on the ground. With this win under their belts they had to win the next match. It was important for her and her team. So many loses over the past few years had been bad for moral. Maybe this win and the one from the last game the previous school year would give them the boost they needed to finish the year on a high.

"I am doing my job," Christine complained hating the way her sister shortened her name. She was always doing that. Thinking of how angry that made her Christine gave a bludger an extra hard whack and sent it at a Montangard player. So far she'd hit no-one but she thought she might have put some of her game. She hoped she had.

Beating may not be the most ladylike of Quidditch positions but Christine had to admit it was rather satisfying. She could forget all about her appearance for once and just hit bludgers at people. She'd even forgotten to keep track of the score and hit another bludger at a Montangard before it registered her sister held the snitch.

"Sorry," she called out. "I had not realised my sister caught the snitch. Stephie! You did it again." She was down on the ground and hugging her sister with excitement. "We're going to get the cup this year. I know we are."
