Levitational Spells Empty Levitational Spells

Bo was still trying to get a hand at this new school, having never been in such a large establishment before and certainly not one that was also magical. If winding corridors weren't enough to get him confused, Bo found that certain landmarks in the school, such as suits of armor and statues, liked to get up and move when he was not looking. Sometimes he swore entire walls disappeared, connecting hallways that were never before connected. It was a pain and Bo found that he spent most of his free time trying to find the next class. He wondered if he would ever get used to this school.

He was late for Charms class, again. This time without the excuse of it only being the first week of school, which earned him a scowl from Professor Boux and no where to sit. He scanned the room nervously before spotting a single empty chair and shuffled over towards it as quickly as possible. "Do you mind?" He whispered to other person in the pair of desks. He set his bag down before taking a seat and shuffled around a bit before realizing he had no idea what all of this "Wingardium Leviosa" stuff was or why they had a single feather, not yet cut to be a quill, resting in front of him. "What are we doing?" He asked, still whispering, praying that he wasn't being too much of a bother to his partner.

Claudette was always early for class. It was very odd, considering that she sometimes had to trot all the way across the palace to get to her next class. Maybe it was sitting as close to the exit as possible. Anyways, her Charms class was always a blast. Learning to make stuff float was actually amazing.

Claudette's fun diminished when a boy (who was always late for class) interrupted her by asking if he could sit in the empty seat next to her. "Go ahead, dude." she answered. I wonder why he's always late, she thought.

The late boy asked her what they were doing in today's class, and she answered, "We're gonna start floating stuff!" Oh yes, today's class was going to be freaking awesome. If she didn't procrastinate with her homework from two days ago, she would be the top student in the class. But, oh, "sloppy work isn't tolerated".

Dude? Beauregard raised an eyebrow at the word, but kept his mouth shut and took a seat anyway. He was unfamiliar with his partner, save for having seen her in class before, but as for her name, he hadn't the slightest clue. It intimidated him a little, actually, though she didn't seem like much a threat physically, with a large bow in her hair. He bet she even drew little hearts over her i's, she seemed like that type of girly girl. Fortunately, she had some idea of what they were to be doing that class though.

"Levitation? Today?" Ah yes, now the past lessons were coming back to him and it was all making sense. However, Beauregard wasn't sure if he was even capable of making something levitate, even if it was in all actuality light as a feather.

He jumped as Professor Boux finished her lecture with a tap against the black board and told them they were free to practice their new spell. "Swish and flick. Swish and flick," Beauregard uttered out loud, wand in hand and following motions with what he was saying. "Alright, can't be too hard, right?" He said to himself and then cleared his throat. "Wingaydrum levisi!" He enunciated, though with the flick of his wand, the feather before him did nothing. Not even moved the slightest. This was going to be harder than he thought.

Blah, blah, boring lecture, Claudette thought. She paid minimal attention to the pre-lecture, because Professor Boux probably was going to have another later in class. Instead she was drawing a realistic cat on her parchment. Yep, definitely one of the perks of being in the back of the class.

When it was time for the students to practice, well.. "You're saying it all wrong." Claudette said to her partner. "Wingardium Leviosa!" It worked wonders because she was the third person to get it right. "Well, hey, you can try, I won't judge." she added. Yep, she'll probably wait until the end of class before he'll get it right. The downside of being in the back? You get partnered up with the late kids, the emos, and the bullies. Yeah, she'll manage.

Maybe I should go to the stables and see if there was a unicorn there. That would be great. Maybe I should annoy a second year just for the heck of it. Man, there's like no girls in my year. That sucks. Thoughts swirled through Claudette's mind. She was biting her thumb. "So hey, I'm Claudette." she said to her partner. One more friend? Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!

Of course the person he ended up sitting next to got the spell nearly right away, which only made Bo feel all the more pressured. She wasn't the first to get it right and a handful of other students waved a wand pointed at a floating feather. Bo didn't want to be the last in class to get it right, but wasn't able to focus with the pressure of his peers.

"Didn't I say that?" He replied to the girl's correction. He supposed not with his absolute bogus performance. "Wingardrium leviosaw!" He tried again. No, that wasn't it either. "Wingardium leviosa!" The feather danced beneath his wand, wanting to take air but not quite doing so. He was so close now. He just had to figure out what was going right.

He was surprised that suddenly the girl introduced herself, thinking that she hadn't been too keen about him in the first place. "I'm Bo," He replied, chewing his lip slightly. She seemed to be bored and doing nothing, since she already successfully completed her spell. "Wingardium Leviosa! Wingardium Leviosa!" Swish and flick.

Claudette continued doodling on her parchment. A little owl, a giraffe, and ten unicorns appeared withing fifteen minutes. Once this class was over, she was going to cuddle her stuffed purple giraffe, Mr. Purple. She had thirty stuffed animals on her bed in her dorm.

She wanted to say something random while the boy was working on his feather. "If it snowed and then it was sunny, wouldn't it make a snow-bow?" Claudette said randomly. That was completely normal of her to speak her mind, even if it meant curious questions she had.

"Do you like unicorns, Bo?" she asked. Unicorns were her life. Claudette lived on a unicorn ranch, and she was in charge of the foals while her parents took care of the older ones. She loved to groom their majestic manes.

With his partner distracted with drawings, Bo thought he wouldn't have any distractions from her and continued to practice his incantation. He was at the point now where the feather would move some, wanting to successfully levitate, but always falling short and returning to the desk. He had no control over it, to be honest.

"Wingardium- ... what?" Claudette had spoken up and of all things he expected for her to say to him, the question he had received was far from being one of them. He chewed his lip. "I've seen the sun shine after it snows and it doesn't make a rainbow...or a snowbow" The phrase was odd enough in his mouth. "I don't think names work like that either."

He picked up his wand again and continued the motions, this time not being so alarmed when the girl spoke up once again. "I've never met a unicorn," He answered, stealing a glance towards her only for his eyes to return to a floating feather. "Look! I've done it!" He announced, only to watch the feather sink back towards the desk as he had exclaimed it.

Claudette was slightly annoying when she became bored, which was almost every second of the day. When Bo (finally) made his feather float, she could probably dance. Oh boy, how is he going to pass his exams, Claudette thought. Some people will just have to learn.

She was actually conidering skipping her next class and sneaking out to the stables to find a unicorn for Riley, but she wouldn't dare try to get expelled just for a freaking horse, to put it bluntly. Maybe she could use her Friday afternoon for that purpose. Claudette twirled a strand of her red hair around her finger. Professor Boux was being more boring than usual with her extremely long closing statement for the class.
