The Last Dance Empty The Last Dance

Post by Guest Sat Aug 02, 2014 3:04 pm

Last year Ruby hadn't attended the school dance. Instead, she stayed in her dorm with Marcy. This year was her final year so she decided it was best that she went. She was too nervous to ask Marcy to the dance so she just kept quiet about it. She pulled on a pink dress and then ran a hand through her curled blue hair. Rosalie had dyed it over the summer and she really liked it. The final touch to her outfit was a layer of black lipstick.

She sighed as she walked into the grand hall. She played with her hands as she walked. A small smile formed on her face as she admired the decorations. Everything looked so romantic. She saw a few people she knew but she was looking for someone in particular. A small squeak escaped her lips when she saw Marcy. She quickly made her way to Marcy and threw her arms around her. "Hi!"

Marceline wasn't big on dances, remembering the mixers her muggle prep school threw with neigboring all boys schools where it was boys choose girls and Marceline was never asked to dance. Not that had wanted anyone to ask her. Even back then she had some inclination towards the idea that she was not interested in boys. However, even at the age of sixteen the memory of sitting on the sidelines remained bitter and she was determined not to go. That was, until she had mentioned the subject of the dance to Ruby, wondering if the older girl was planning on skipping out again and if so, would she want to spend the time with her? However, Marceline had hardly gotten the whole out of her mouth before Ruby excitedly interrupted and said she was going. Without a second though, Marceline immediately altered her decision.

The night of the dance came and Marceline stared at her long black dress in the mirror. Black dresses were a common of Marceline's wardrobe but most were casual and this one was a bit more fancy. Her make up was dark as usual and she lidded her lips with a dark shade of lip stick before heading out.

She felt the heads turned as she walked by and knew it wasn't because they thought she looked stunning. People must've thought she was a circus act, this dressed up. Marceline extended her middle digit towards the onlookers and walked on in search of the one and only person she would dance with that night; Ruby Thomas.

She spotted the girl and her face light up, as much as Marceline's face was allowed to light up, and suddenly nothing else mattered. She approached the girl, picking up the pace of her moving heels and accepted her into her arms as she embraced her. "Evening," She replied, her voice velvety. The pair broke apart and Marceline's eyes traversed the extent of Ruby's figure. "Pink suits you well." Marceline commented. "Our lip stick matches," She further pointed out before falling silent again. "So, umm, it's a dance...we should dance," Marceline started. "But if you don't want to, we don't have to. I don't really care anyway," She added, quickly and defensively, averting her gaze.

A small blush formed on the girl's cheeks at the other girl's compliment. "Thank you, I like black on you." It was nice to see her out of her uniform. She hadn't thought about matching lipstick with Marcy but she was glad that she had, it was like they had planned it or something. The blush grew when she asked her to dance. That's all she wanted to do.

She grabbed her hand and pulled her onto the dance floor. She wrapped her arms around Marcy's neck and smiled. The song was slow and it was a perfect time to just talk. "Your hair looks amazing," she said softly. She ran her fingers through her friend's hair, she always loved unnatural hair colors.

Ruby hadn't answered her, even after she had gotten a bit defensive, but instead took her hands in her own and lead her to the dance floor. Marceline smiled gently, her dark lips pulled into the slightest of curves. This was all she wanted from the night.

"I know, you keep reminding me," Marceline replied with a small chuckle. It was no doubt how much Ruby fancied hair colored in shades that hair usually wasn't in, but for years Marceline had sported a simple black bob and it hadn't been until recently that she had decided to change it up. There was a lot she was trying to change recently, for the better.

"How has your night been," She inquired, after silence fell between the slowly dancing couple. She didn't like dancing in silence. Then again, she didn't like dancing in the first place. "Did you dance with anyone yet?" She added, timidly. She had dealt with Ruby dating another before, but she wasn't sure she would be able to watch her with another anytime soon.

A small blush crept onto the seventh year's face. She hadn't meant to mention it so many times. She just loved the color, it was perfect. She fancied the unnatural colors and she couldn't help her hands as they roamed around Marcy's soft hair. She giggled softly because she accidently messed up the other girl's hair. "Whoops," she said softly. She began to try to fix it but instead made it a bit worse. Her arms wrapped back around her neck and she kissed her cheek. "Sorry about messimg up your hair and now there's black on your cheek."

It was silent for a few seconds before March began talking again. "My night has been going well," she grinned. The song ended and another slow song took its place. "You're the first person I've dance with and the only person I planned on dancing with." She looked her friend in the eyes. "Tell me what we have here," she whispered. She didn't like not knowing what their relationship was. She didn't want it to be complicated anymore, she wanted to be able to call Marcy her girlfriend and kiss her.

Marceline wasn't much of a touchy person and especially didn't like her hair being touched. It wasn't so much that she was concerned about the tidiness of her hair being jeopardized from probing hands but that it was the idea of someone getting in her personal space. Ruby Thomas was a whopping exception to the rule and the lilac haired girl remained absolutely still as Ruby touched her hair, blinking her dark lidded eyes emotionlessly. She was going to miss Ruby next year.

a smile graced her black lips as Ruby apologized for messing her hair with a kiss on the cheek. "You missed," She told her, before wrapping her arms around Ruby's waist and kissing her on the lips; black lipstick on black lipstick.

They parted and Marceline fixed her hair coolly, listening to Ruby speak of her night in reply to the question Marceline had posed. She was pleased to hear she was the only one Ruby had danced with in the way that it confirmed that Marceline's affections were not one sided. She wasn't expecting Ruby to ask what she did next.

"Well, ummm," It wasn't usual that Marceline was at a loss for words. She nearly always had a quick comeback, but here her mind was drawing a blank. "I-I don't know," She answered. She coveted Ruby, but soon Ruby was to graduate and Marceline wouldn't get to see her as often as she did while they were both in school. "Look, I know I'm not the nicest of girls, but if you're okay with dating me, then I'm okay with it," She relayed, blushing. Not the most romantic of ways, but it was Marceline's way. "That is if you truly believe there is no one more interesting than me outside of school."

A blush crept up on the almost adult's face as Marcy's lips met hers. She smiled into the kiss. She let out a small laugh as she fixed the hair she had messed up. She bit her bottom lip as she waited for an answer. It wasn't often that she saw the other girl at a loss of words but it seemed like Ruby could always help her lose the words in her brain. "I wouldn't be asking if I wasn't cool with dating you," she said softly. A small grin spread across her full lips. It was nice to put a label on their relationship, it made things so much easier.

"Niemand ist wie du," she spoke in her native tongue. She didn't want to date anyone but Marceline and Marcy was just going to have to deal with her. "I have my eyes set on you, no one else."

Marceline wasn't exactly good with being romantic. She had grown up scorning the idea of romance and sticking her tongue out at any media with an aim towards romance. Even the brief romances that played out in the comic books she read earned a roll of the eyes from Marceline. She had avoided it all like the plague and yet now she was begging for an ounce of assistance as she was sure it was needed in this moment with Ruby. No doubt the St. Valentines day dance was about as romantic as it got and here Ruby was questioning what they were, answers to which Marceline gave in gruff answers. She thought she was failing here until she saw Ruby smile.

Marceline cocked an eyebrow. "So does that mean...?" She broke off, her feet had stopped dancing ages ago and she was facing Ruby. She wasn't bilingual by any means and had no idea what Ruby had said in German, but she sure liked the way it sounded. Marceline smirked and wrapped her arms around Ruby's waist. "Whisper sweet German nothings into my ear," She whispered in command before pressing her lips to Ruby's again. She didn't need clarification on that answer. It was clear that Ruby was hers as she was Ruby's, for the night at least or for as long as it lasted. Either way, Marceline was pleased with whatever of Ruby should could get.

She was going to miss Marcy, there was no one like her. No one would grab her attention like she did. She planned on writing her and seeing her whenever she could. Once she got her own place, she could invite her over for summer and winter break. She placed her hand on her girlfriend's cheek and kissed her back. "Du bist wunderschön," she whispered once they had broken apart. Her night couldn't have gone any better, it was better than she thought it would go.

She pulled her close and wrapped her arms around her neck. "I'm gonna miss you," she said softly. She hugged her tight, she didn't want to let go.

Marceline wasn't one for goodbyes and certainly never cried, but she felt incredibly saddened by Ruby's claim. Of course she'd miss her oddly hair-colored girlfriend. There wasn't another soul in school that interested Marceline quite like Ruby did and there weren't that many others that Marceline got along with either.

Marceline hugged Ruby back tightly. "Everything is going to change next year," Marceline uttered, just above the sound of the slow paced song playing. "But the way I feel about you won't." Marceline promised. She didn't want to let go. But wanted to spend the whole night with Ruby. Sure, there was still time before term ended, but it was closer to the end of the year than it was to the beginning and that unnerved her. Oh how was she supposed to survive school without her Ruby?

The night was about to end and Ruby wished it would last forever. But it wouldn't but tonight was special. It had to be one of the greatest moments of her life and she found herself blushing again. "No one is cooler than you," she said with a grin. She wanted to spend the rest of her time at Beauxbatons with her girlfriend. But tests, studying, and packing would get in the way of that. "I'll make sure I see you whenever I can," she promised.

She grabbed her hand and began to pull her towards the exit. "Let's go back to my room." She had lots on her mind and two of those things were kissing and Marcy. Who needed a dance when they could have fun on their own? It would be more private and she was sure that they could do a lot more kissing in her room than at the dance.
