There's a Good Reason these Tables are Numbered Honey, You Just Haven't Thought of it Yet
Fane was starting to get tired and incredibly irritated with the confines of his starched collar. He had danced with a handful of people already, but knew it was too soon for him to pull his final prank of the year. So instead, he looked for yet another person to dance with. His eyes landed on the obvious answer. A dark haired girl standing on the sidelines, one he used to know well and who once asked him to tell her about himself, but suddenly turned back to him not a few days later. He hated the silence treatment. He felt that it was unreasonable as he hadn't even done anything to her. However, that wasn't about to discourage him to ask her for a dance.
"Hey, how are you doing?" Fane asked, approaching her. But Odette didn't respond and acted like he wasn't there. "We haven't talked in awhile. 'Supose you've got yourself a hot boyfriend now so you don't need me anymore, right?" Still nothing. "You look nice, Odie," He added, starting to lose the coolness in his voice and having it replaced with nerves. "What do you say we dance?" He finally asked, thinking that maybe she didn't know his intentions yet, so he stated them.

Odette walked into the hall for the Valentine's day dance and sighed nervously. This dance was something she had been excited for, for quite a while, but now was dreading the idea of being surrounded by her peers. Namely? Fane. She had managed to avoid him for quite a while now and drank her punch silently as the night went on. However, she knew that she couldn't escape his gaze forever and she proved right when suddenly he walked over and started to talk to her. She turned her back slightly and didn't speak to him, but he just kept going. She could hear the smoothness in his voice fading as he finally proposed what he wanted. She turned and looked at him. "Dance?" She said quietly. "You just want to simply dance...?"

A smile tugged his face as Fane finally managed to break through Odette's walls. She didn't say much, but it was a preferred alternative to the silence she offered before. "Yes, dance," Fane replied, feeling his nerves slip away. Odette was always easy enough to convince. He was glad for that. "This is a dance, after all."
He gently gripped her arm and led her out onto the dance floor then, only stopping when he was comfortable and turned to smile at her. "What's wrong?" He asked, looking at her face. "The night been a bust for you?" She definitely didn't look pleased, though he couldn't possibly tell why. "Well if it's a boy problem, whoever it is will be jealous to see us together," He noted and then offered out his hand to dance. "C'mon, give it a try!"

Odette looked up at him and blushed slightly as he pulled her out onto the floor. "No...Fane I-" she gasped and felt herself being pulled in the middle. "Another boy? Really Fane, is that all you care about." She looked slightly irritated. "Another boy..." Rolling her eyes, she looked back into his. "No it's not another boy, are you really that worried about me finding someone?" She asked. "Nevermind that. Dancing, you want to dance with me?" She looked slightly nervous. "I....I don't know...Fane...I'm not a good dancer....and I wouldn't want to step on your foot." She said quickly, though it wasn't a very good excuse.
