Jack was used to solitude. She lived a clean life where her house greatly resembled a museum; it was very cold and she wasn't allowed to touch anything. Her parents were often busy and the only people she interacted with were her two brothers. Needless to say, she wasn't the most sociable of girls, but she had grown to like that lifestyle.

Waiting to be picked up and apparated home, for Fane was still a year shy of being able to himself, she decided to pull out a book and read. Her beyond modest allowance permitted her to boy more books than just those on the list and Jack decided to delve into one of her new poetry collections books. She was on her second poem, her brow furrowed in concentration as she picked apart each line, when she felt a pair of eyes on her. "It's not polite to stare," She told the onlooker, meeting their eye with a heartdropping sensation as she found them to be unfamiliar and her familiar family nowhere to be found. "Where did they go?" She asked, aloud and increasingly more frightened. Had they forgotten her? What a dreadful thought! Here she was alone and defenseless with nothing but her school books and not a sense of direction as to where home was. She closed her book timidly and spoke up to the stranger. "H-have you seen two boys? One is older, nearly an adult and has black hair and piercings. The other, my age. He has the same blonde hair and blue eyes and freckles."

Milan hadn't planned to linger in the pub, she just wanted to buy some butterbeers and go. She had second-year shopping to do after all, mostly books. Milan figured it would lessen the torture to drink butterbeer while finding books. Dull, boring textbooks droning on about magical theory and whatnot.

On her way out, she stumbled upon a girl immersed in a familiar-looking book. She hesitated for a second, studying the cover. It was that book alright, the one her sister Maria had been trying to get her to read for five years now. Maria was a bookworm and would read just about any book, especially dull poetry. Milan had never seen what Maria had seen in that odd classic-looking book. She'd certainly never seen anyone else read that book, much less an eleven year old.

When the girl snapped at her for staring, Milan raised her eyebrows. "I was just looking at your book, its not an awfully common book you know." She was about to walk away when the girl started to fret aloud about two boys. Milan felt pity for this girl and decided to help. "I think I saw that older one across the street...." Her memory was foggy, so she couldn't be certain. "And I haven't seen the one your age. Why? Are they your relatives? Are they supposed to pick you up or something?"

Jack always thought herself as independent, yet here alone she felt as helpless as an infant. She felt pitiful asking the stranger for help, especially after seeing how the girl stared at her like she was an exhibit in a sideshow, but she desperately needed it.

Her blue eyes falling on the cover of the book, she rose an eyebrow at the girl's comment. "So?" She replied. She had been reading higher level poetry since she was eight. It was just something she enjoyed. "Perhaps if you read it, you would understand." She noted. "Or are you one of those people who think reading is a waste of your time?" She inquired, her nose crinkling. The girl was horribly mistaken, if that were the case.

"What is he doing there?" Jacqueline hissed, rhetorically. Actually, she had a decent idea as to why Fane would wander off like that, but Jamie as well? Now she was at a loss. She felt her heartbeat increase with the separation anxiety. She needed to find them. "Yes, they are my family. My daft brothers! Ugh! I can't believe they'd do this to me!" She fumed, gathering her bags together. She'd have to go and look for them, if the girl hadn't any more clues to give. "You sure that's all you remember? Are you sure that was Fane? He's not very tall, y'know. Actually, pretty short for his age. His hair is really weird too," She stood up and looked at the girl desperately. "Please, I need to know."

Milan rolled her eyes. "So, I just had a hunch about your book and confirmed it. I don't hate reading," she snapped, although she had often been accused of it, especially by her sister. "I just don't enjoy old books. Everybody has their preferences." It was the truth, she convinced herself. She did enjoy reading, but usually it was just the hardcore fantasy or dystopia. At least, she knew some of her friends detested all reading, and she wasn't like that. "Please don't tell me you've read all your school books already," she said dryly. "Let me guess, you especially find History of Magic fascinating and would love to learn more about the invention of self-soaping dishcloths," Milan joked sarcastically with a smirk.

"I know of Fane," she replied, having seen him around occasionally. "Doesn't he kiss a lot of people?" Milan had only seen glimpses of Fane but she'd heard stuff from her friend Serah. "You don't look like him at all." She realized she was being too harsh and unhelpful on this stranded girl, so she tapped back into her memory. "I saw him surrounded by a bunch of people. He may or may not have been with them," she shrugged, softening. "I don't think he looked particularly in a hurry. It was hard to tell which direction he was heading in. And the other one-is he your twin? He may have been headed to the road for Whisper Alley, but that was a while ago. You don't want to head there," Milan said, crinkling her nose. "I only went there once for books. That's where I first met my best friend, but the shopkeeper was really strict and practically threw us out."

Jack really couldn't argue with everyone having their own book preferences. However, she just thought that the classics were all too often disregarding when there was a reason why classics were called thus. She gave the girl the benefit of the doubt that she probably didn't have a private tutor growing up like she herself did. However, all excuse she gave the girl disappeared with her accusation.

"Pardon me?" Jack said, her brow furrowing on her freckle face. "No, I haven't read all of my textbooks. I need them for reference, not a bed time story. And history of magic will most likely not be my favorite class, yet you seem to have a poor perception that history is more important and hardly deals with 'self-soaping dishcloths.' We learn about history so we don't repeat past mistakes. Or would you rather that we have another genocide of muggleborns?" Jack ranted, indignantly. Who was this girl to judge. Jack slammed her book shut on the table and rose. "And for your information, this book of poetry is no more factual than your teen-dreamy romance novels I bet you read, just written in a more sophisticated manner. Now if you'll excuse me, you'll stop analyzing me and my life and start helping me find my brothers or else be gone with yourself," Jack ordered. She was good at ordering people. Not so good at making friends though.

Jack cringed as the girl noted that she knew of Fane only to question whether he kissed a lot of people or not. She sure hoped she didn't know her brother because he had kissed her. She thought Fane was better than to kiss girls nearly his sister's age. "Yes," Jack replied, a bit disgusted. Her brother was such a fickle lover and she didn't understand why. People were so repulsive. "I suppose he looks more like father," Jack relayed, though she knew that wasn't true. Jack and Jamie looked more like their mother but Fane looked like neither. Jack never questioned it though. "So he might still be there?" If she found one, she'd hang on to them and force them to find the other brother. Actually just finding one would ease her stress a bunch. "Whisper Alley?" Father had warned her not to go down there. She knew the reasons and understood them well. That Alley way was a magnet for wicked intended people. No place for a little lady like herself. "I'll decide that for myself, thanks," She replied, indignantly. She hadn't a clue why her brother would want to go down there, but then again, he was always inclined towards trouble.

Milan sighed inwardly. She really hadn't meant it as an insult, but she supposed she'd come off rude. She couldn't help comment on the girl's rant still. "Well, I apologize for thinking you liked history," she retorted, heavily sarcastic. "And I'm pretty sure I'm more qualified to judge the History of Magic class than you, seeing as I've actually gone through one year of it. That self soaping dishcloth comment was really sarcastic, in case you didn't notice." Milan pitied the girl, she clearly hadn't learned much social skills and was now ranting about history. She raised a dark eyebrow. "No, I don't like sappy romance novels, I find them incredibly dramatized, and its snobbish to imply that you're more sophisticated than people who don't read poetry."

As pretentious as this girl was, Milan admired her take-charge attitude in finding her brothers. "Depending on how fast Fane is, he couldn't have left Amythest Alley, at least. The other one, he could possibly be in Whisper Alley by now, if he was really set on going there. He could've turned back, it seemed like he was heading for the road to Whisper Alley, but it was still pretty far away." She wasn't just saying this to calm the girl, Milan was trying to cover the possibilities. She really wanted to help this girl, knowing it would be awful to be stranded as an 11 year old, in a completely alien place. "Do you have the slightest idea where they might be going and why?" Milan pulled out her new broomstick. She wondered idly if it was legal to go flying around the crowded alley, but she dismissed this thought quickly. "You could hang on to my broomstick and we could try to find them. I know the way around, if you have the slightest clue where they might be. Where exactly were they supposed to be before picking you up? School shopping?" She figured the brother that had been referred to as the girl's age was her twin, likely fascinated by all the magical items, not all safe. "Um...does your twin have a knack for curiosity?"
