Troll Hunting Empty Troll Hunting

Post by Guest Tue Jan 21, 2014 12:18 am

Stark was a curious little boy so when he came across some old copies of the Student Organized Press papers he decided they would be interesting to read. He was a bit shocked to find that one year there was an article about trolls. It wasn't just about trolls in general but about them living in the dungeons here at Beauxbatons. That wasn't even the most surprising thing he read in that article, the author continuously mentioned one of his best friends, Fane Blevins. This Sawyer Johnson said Fane gave him a lot of information about the trolls that lived here.

Of course this sparked a new interest for the young boy. Stark was now very curious about these trolls and even wanted to find some if he could. He asked all of his friends about, Mabel seemed unafraid to join him in the dungeons for an exploration, Stephanie was interested in coming as well and even after he teased both girls about how the trolls preferred to eat the girls over boys but assuring them he wouldn't let trolls get them both still seemed interested. Of course his troll hunting team wouldn't be complete without the expert himself, and luckily Fane agreed to join Stark's entourage.

After a week of getting his team together the four of them were read to ventured into the dungeons. The strawberry blonde waited by the top of the dungeon stairs for them all to arrive twirling his wand in his hands. It was the weekend so Stark hoped most of the older students were more interested in going to the village than playing around in the dungeons, that also meant he didn't have to wear the silky blue uniform. He didn't dislike the uniform, he just felt safer with his cardigan and fedora. He smiled when he saw the first person from his group come his way. "Hey." He greeted them cheerfully.

Mabel didn't believe in the whole troll thing, she didn't think there were any trolls in the dungeons. So when Stark said something about them, she decided to join him just to prove him wrong. No way there were trolls in the palace, they'd never allow that. She wasn't scared either, it took a lot to scared her and she wasn't about to get scared over trolls that weren't there. Her cousin made her bring his camera with her, so she'd take pictures for him while he was doing whatever Calebs did. He would be disappointed when she came back with nothing.

"Hey," she said when she came up to her friend. "Nice hat." She played with the camera in her hands, careful not to drop it. It would be hard to replace and hard to pay for. "You know trolls aren't here, right?" She smirked, she was certain she was right. "But I'll pretend to be scared to humor you." She snapped a picture of him without warning. She pulled the picture from the camera and shook it. "It's on the house." She grinned at the picture before handing it to Stark.

Fane had all but forgotten about his lie about the trolls he had told a few years ago. He knew the story was published in the school's paper, courtesy of Sawyer Johnson. He had been so pleased with himself at the time, thinking of all the people he had scared and the others whom he inspired to go looking for trolls. Never had he imagined that Stark would take interest in his false story and ask him to accompany him on a hunt. Fane couldn't find the will to tell Stark it was all a gag, seeing how excited it had made his friend, so he went along with it and agreed to join him.

He put on a torn pair of jeans and his favorite hoodie and then headed to the dungeons, grinning as he saw two familiar figures waiting for him. He approached quietly, aiming to scare them, but ended up giving up his position with his own laughter.

"I'm calling bullshit on that one, Mabel," He started, and then took her camera in hand. "If you were convinced that you weren't going to be seeing any trolls today, then why bring a camera?" He wised, and then gave the camera back and walked over to  Stark, opening his arms wide, offering a hello hug. "Unless of course you wanted to take pictures of me for when you were lonely." He mused.

Troll Hunting Empty Re: Troll Hunting

Stephanie had surprised herself with being so readily agreeing to go on this troll hunting expedition. To be sure she had been caught at a moment when she was caught up in a daydream about being a fearless explorer. Now she felt anything but. However, in the interest of checking the truth of a good story there had to be some actual investigation and she was now a reporter for the school paper. Thus she switched her mind from explorer mode to truth seeker reporter mode. Looking for a good story or expose a lie. Maybe not the last since she didn't want anyone to come after her with a wand. Her magic wasn't good enough to protect herself from such an onslaught. That was scarier than the suggestion that trolls preferred to eat girls. She wasn't sure that was quite true.

She wore jeans and a jumper which she considered suitable attire for a troll hunting expedition in the dungeons and made sure to have her wand with her, not that it'd be much good with her spell casting still being a little bit on the haphazard side. Still it couldn't hurt just in case there might be an older student pretending to be a troll. Maybe the writer of the article heard of this and was down there right at this moment ready to scare them. She shook her head at such a thought as she hurried to catch up to the other three. "Maybe she could take a picture of the empty dungeon to show there is no troll," she suggested, having arrived in time to hear the older boy's question.

She never bought into any of the rumors that the students spread around Beauxbatons. Rumors were just lies unless proven other wise. And this rumor hadn't been proven yet, so it had to be a lie. It also had to be a lie that trolls preferred to eat little girls. If they did, Mabel probably didn't taste very good considering how mean and rude she was.

"If you must know, this camera is my cousin's. He asked me to take pictures and if anything happens to this camera, I'm dead." She held the camera close to her once it was back in her hands. "He believes in the troll rumor, not me." There was no way the rumors were true and it was dumb to believe in them. She held up the camera and snapped a picture of her other friend. "But I'll act like I'm scared just to humor you." She took the picture from the camera and held it out to Fane. "I'm just here to prove you guys wrong, there are no trolls."

She stuffed the camera into her bag so it wouldn't be taken from her again. "I say there's no troll, and I'm most likely right, and you say there are trolls." She looked between the other troll hunters. "What happens if there isn't a troll? So, maybe a bet should be placed. Anyone brave enough to bet me?"

Fane laughed at the new girl's suggestion. "I could take a picture of a blank wall and claim there are no teachers in this school, but that picture won't prove anything," Fane replied. He wondered who this girl was but was soon distracted to ask her for her name by Mable once more. "Well then maybe the poor sod should've come instead of you," he said and swatted at the picture she held to him. "Never mind. Keep it. That way you'll always be able to see my charming face." He smoothed out his hair. "Honestly I think you just want an excuse to hold my hand, but if you want to call it 'pretending' be my guest, cranky princess," He poked her nose.

"What do you want to bet? I have no interest in money," He replied. His family was already handsomely rich. "How about a kiss?" He suggested cheekily.

Stephanie scratched her head with the tip of her wand. She hadn't taken into account the difficulty of disproving something due to the absence of it. "Do trolls do a lot of damage when they're around? Maybe lack of damage could suggest the rumour is unlikely to be true," she suggested a little nervously. She bit her lip and now wished she'd kept her mouth shut. Stephanie didn't like to draw attention to herself and now she felt like she was doing the exact opposite.

She frowned a little at what sounded like Mabel's assertion that she along with both boys believed the rumour. "But I don't think there is a troll here," she protested. "I'm just here to um...just to see if perhaps there was a mistake made." Stephie took a step back. She'd made a mistake in joining this expedition. Ever since meeting the other girl back before they started at Beauxbatons she'd done her best to stay out of her way until and done it successfully until now. She was much scarier than any rumoured troll who might prefer to eat girls over boys.

"You want my cousin to replace me? And I thought we were friends," Mabel grinned. "You know you love seeing my happy face." She rolled her eyes but stuffed the picture in her pocket anyways. "Hold your hand? Not happening. I rather lick a cactus." Both ideas were pretty painful, but the cactus idea was more appealing.

"I'll be right, so don't expect a kiss from me. But I'll humor you. If I'm right, and I am right, about there being no trolls, you owe me," she paused. What did she want? Money had no interest to her, she didn't want a kiss like he did. "You become my servant for two days." A week was too long to be stuck with the boy. "That means you do what I want when I want it without any buts."

She then turned to the other girl. "We meet again," she said with a smirk, she recalled their meeting. "You came along to prove that there's no troll too? I guess we agree then." She giggled when the girl took a step back as if she was afraid. "I don't bite...much." There was a rumor about her being a vampire and she was sure that some people still believed it so she was still going along with it.

Stark smiled at Mabel's arrival and gave her a hug, not carrying if she was against it or not. He blinked surprised at the camera taking a picture of him and took the photo she offered afterwards. He stuffed it in his pocket and when he looked back up Fane had arrived, he too received a welcoming hug from the teen. He wanted to speak up when they both started making fun of the other for believing that the trolls were real and then pinning it all on him, but just as he did the last of his friends joined the group. Stark gave her another hug in greeting and a smile, but she too joined the others in their discussion about the trolls not being real. Well it probably would've been nice to know before hand that none of his friends really wanted to be here in the first place.

Once there seemed to be a pause in the conversation Stark took a deep breath and spoke up finally. "Alrightie then let's just put it on record that none of us truly believe that their are trolls in the dungeons. I don't believe in them anymore than the rest of you but I needed an excuse to get all of my friends to come hang out." He said hesitantly. "Um I don't know if you all know each other so I'm gonna do a quick round of introductions. Obviously y'all know me, we've got Fane Blevins, Mabel Miller, and Stephanie Henrau." He said pointing to each of his friends in turn. "So yeah I guess we're all just gonna hang out in the dungeons since you all hing this pretty pointless, but I guess if we're gonna do this we should get started." He said shyly feeling a lot less confident about this expedition than he had moments before, he hoped all his friends would get along and they could still maybe have fun.
