Cerisier vs Montagnard: Round II Empty Cerisier vs Montagnard: Round II

Post by Professor Bowen Fri May 02, 2014 9:12 am

Professor Bowen was pleased with the way the first game went. Both teams had played their hardest and it had been a tough game. The teams were so evenly matched the entire game even the seekers were just about tied there at the end. That would hopefully mean the teams would just as competitive again today, maybe more so for Cerisier since they need to win to keep the cup in their sights.

That might be the only thing in their sights today. The quidditch mistress thought when she stepped outside to find a blanket of white snow that was blowing in sideways. The wind was strong forcing Professor Bowen to enlist the help of another Professor to carry the box of quidditch balls out onto the pitch. She wasn't happy to find they were running late after the time it took to get anywhere with the snow making it impossible to see farther than arm length.

The game wasn't going to be canceled so she stood on the pitch waiting for the players. She wasn't sure how much the spectators could see up there but hopefully it was enough to get them to stick around. When the teams came out she went about the normal speech before releasing the balls after the captains hand shake. "Let the game begin!"

Cerisier vs Montagnard: Round II Empty Re: Cerisier vs Montagnard: Round II

Post by Guest Fri May 02, 2014 2:37 pm

The conditions today were the complete opposite of last time and Stephanie was not looking forward to it. She was unable to catch the snitch last match. How was she to catch it in these conditions? She struggled to keep upright as she tried to peer through the snow to get a glimpse of the Montagnard seeker. Stephanie felt a need to try and ascertain whether or not they were going to be less challenged by these conditions. In the end she gave up and mounted her broom ready to take off.

The conditions well above the pitch and the other players was even worse in her estimation. Now she had to also contend with staying on her broom as well as the wind and snow. Thoughts turned to her sister who was smaller and thus would have even more trouble staying on her broom. Christine wouldn't even be able to keep hold of it when she had that bat to hold as well. "CHRISTINE," Stephanie shouted, "KEEP ANCHORED." With the wind biting the way it was she couldn't say quite as much as she would have liked.

Montagnard were on a winning streak and Marie-Laure was determined to keep it that way. Her pep talk for the team was short. "Fiona Miller just stay in the air and leave the work to Green and myself. Everyone else just carry on as usual." That Miller was their only liability and Marie-Laure believed it best if she were kept well out of the way so as to not cause their winning streak to end now just before they were in with a chance of winning the cup for the second year in a row.

She led her team out and was hit with the snow and wind. "MILLER," she called again. "DON'T FALL OFF YOUR BROOM." No-one else needed any such warning. Just their liability and blow if anyone was going to be injured on her team just because of a little wind and snow.

Marie-Laure reached her hand out to shake with Quinn before waiting for the signal to begin. All pleasantries with her biggest rival in the school were over. She was in it to win and made sure to have control of the quaffle. It was difficult and with the snow around she couldn't even be certain if she was passing to the right chaser or not. Thus she chose to keep a hold of it and attempt to score herself. Her gamble paid off and Marie-Laure couldn't help but smile at the triumph of the din. If the conditions weren't so ghastly she might have even shouted out a challenge to the rival captain.

Cerisier vs Montagnard: Round II Empty Re: Cerisier vs Montagnard: Round II

Post by Guest Sat May 03, 2014 11:31 am

The first round had went well, Montagnard managed to catch the snitch before the Cerisier seeker. The weather had been nice too, perfect qudditch weather. Stepping out of the locker room, Mabel soon realized that the weather wasn't going to be as great as it had the first game. The only thing she could see was white snow, she could hardly see her own hands. She sighed and adjusted her gloves, switching her bat from hand to hand. The bat finally rested in her right hand, she would have to try her best. "Do not mess up," she warned Fiona. "The weather is total crap so try to stay out of the way." She climbed onto her broom and turned towards her sister, who she could hardly make out at all. "Just try not to fall and be safe." That had to be the kindest thing she had ever said to her sister. "It would be embarrassing if you fell," she quickly added before kicking off the ground.

The snow made things difficult, but she managed to hit a bludger. She couldn't tell if she hit it towards a Cerisier or Montagnard player. Or anyone at all. Maybe things would go smoothly for the rest of the team.

Cerisier vs Montagnard: Round II Empty Re: Cerisier vs Montagnard: Round II

Post by Quentin D'Angelo Sat May 03, 2014 1:38 pm

The weather was absolutely horrendous and for once it wasn't because of the snow; it was the wind that blew relentlessly and picked up the snow and whipped it against his face. He was starting to think he should've bundled up more, but it was far too late to turn around and change now.

Quentin's nose was already running from the coldness by the time he was up in the air. He tried to remain focus as the quaffle was released, but he realized within moments that flying in this windy of weather wasn't as precise as he'd like it to be. He found himself two feet off of course and missed the quaffle before he had time to readjust himself. A chime from his side of the pitch told him they had lost the first goal of the game.

He was quick to make up for the loss, working overtime to get a point for Cerisier. The wind was really slowing him and the other chasers down, but Quinn was more concerned for his novice team players. He shot a concerned glance at Christine, whom struggled enough when there wasn't wind strong enough to blow one off course. He smiled as he heard her sister coach her about hanging on and then added, "Stick to your fellow beater, alright? It's windy enough for any bludger not to go exactly where you'd want it too and you two need to look out for each other. You're partners. That's why there's two beaters," Quentin said, before speeding off back into the game again. He could tell it was going to be a long one and the win that he craved and needed would not be easy.

Cerisier vs Montagnard: Round II Empty Re: Cerisier vs Montagnard: Round II

Fiona didn't look surprised at the instruction given by her captain. Everyone knew she was the worst player on the team. On both teams to be perfectly honest but it didn't bother the sixth year one little bit. She was just happy to hear that the pressure to perform was off. Now she could just focus on staying on her broom whilst figuring out how to get herself kicked off the team without losing her badge at the same time. This plan was so much harder than any prank she'd ever played.

Then came the first step out of the room and into the awful weather and warnings from both captain and sister. The latter did come as a surprise. "Why Mabel I didn't know you cared," she said gleefully whilst trying to stay up right as she mounted her broom. She also chose to ignore the last part her younger sister added. It was obvious Mabel was embarrassed about showing she did care for her sister after all.

Now came the hard part of playing. Much harder this time than any other match. Fiona closed her eyes as she pushed off the ground and then hugged the broom so she could keep low up in the air and not get blown off. The first ding sounded not long after and Fiona opened her eyes despite herself. How the hell did anyone manage to do that with this wind and snow? If the first surprised her then the second was even more surprising and Fiona wished she could tell who was doing the scoring. Now a third? "Mabel are you forgetting to hit bludgers at the chasers?" she called out into the blowing wind and snow.

There was snow covering everything, that was all that Stark could see when he looked out the window that morning. A blanket of snow was over everything or at least that was how it looked through all the snow that was flying around the air at the high speeds of the wind that was pushing it around. Once he was outside and headed towards the pitch he found that the ground was also covered in snow, or at least that's how it felt since he couldn't see his own feet through all the snow blowing across his face. It was going to be a tough game today, was Stark's only thought as he trudged through the snow to the pitch.

He got dressed up in his quidditch uniform and followed his captain and team out onto the field. He pulled his gloves higher onto his arms and his scarf tied much tighter. He thought he was as ready as he'd ever be by the time he mounted his broom and kicked off. A gust of wind blew most of the chasers off course and thankfully the quaffle too sending it right into Stark's arm who passed it to who he thought was his captain and thankfully it was when the ding went off and they had a point. Montagnard was just barely hanging onto their brooms but someone found themselves with a 20 point lead.

Fane was kicking his lucky stars for lotting him with announcing the game that day. He'd rather have done the fall and spring games if it meant he would avoid waking up early on a weekend only to sit out in the chilly announcers box with heavy winds tossing snow into his face. The wind kept messing up his hair and every few moments Fane rose a hand to sweep his bangs out of his face once more.

"Let's make this game a quick one, alright?" Fane spoke into the microphone, speaking the to players who no doubt had no control over how long a game lasted. He had a hunch in this weather it'd take a while before the seekers might be able to just spot the snitch, let a lone catch it.

"It's colder than Merlin in his grave out and with this wind, I can hardly tell whose a Montagnard and who is a Cerisier. These are all poor signs for our Quidditch players. How will they manage?" Fane relayed, boredly. He had snatched the blanket from his bed before heading out and wrapped it closer around his tiny frame as he readjusted in his seat.

"Think anyone is going to fall off with these winds?" Fane started again, after a few moments of silence from the dark-haired boy. "I mean, Quentin has already fallen off in the past, and that was without extreme winds. I think we might lose a couple people today," Fane reasoned, the boy unusually hyped up about the idea. "Wanna make a bet?" Fane offered, turning towards his fellow announcer. "I'll buy you the object of your choice in Cheval if you win," He added, thinking there was no way Rene could refuse a bet like that. "And if I win, you have to do all of my homework for a week. Deal?"

How lovely it was for both her older sister and her captain to show concern for her well-being. Of course they could be just that little bit more concerned that what the situation called for but it was lovely all the same. Now all she had to do was survive the game and hope the other beater would be helpful.

She had difficulty pushing off in the wind with a bat in her hand. "Help!" Christine called out as the wind began to push her off course and into the path of another player. "Sorry." This wind was not good for helping a small twelve year old witch to stay on her broom and Christine was afraid she may not survive the match.

It was obvious that the snow was affecting everyone, the scoring had slowed and it was getting harder to see. She didn't need her sister's input, which she had heard over the game. She didn't let it get to her, like Fiona could do any better. Mabel expected someone to fall off their broom during the game, she hoped it would be an opposite player. Maybe the new Cerisier beater, she still hadn't managed to hit her with a bludger. She had almost forgot about it, a smirk formed on her lips. "Can't even stay on your broom properly, huh?" she called over to the opposite beater. She laughed before hitting a bludger she found towards the other beater.

While she had been playing her position, Montsgnard managed to score some more. If this game ended soon, maybe Mabel could get the feeling back in her toes quicker. She rolled her eyes when Cerisier scored once more, she would make she that was the last time they scored. She zoomed after a bludger then hit it towards a blue and green chaser. "Take that!" she yelled, a smirk on her lips.

The day was not ideal conditions for a quidditch game but as usual the game was not canceled and the teams had to work around the strong winds and blinding snow. It was her last year on the team and she aimed to make it count, even if everyone only cared about the seventh year captains.

Once the whistle was blown everyone was off into the air. It was a very unstable start for everyone with all the wind blowing them around but eventually everyone got in the air. Before they knew it there were dings coming for both directions and Paige couldn't tell who was ahead. That wasn't her job though she reminded herself before chasing after a bludger. That bludger just happened to be headed straight towards be captain and best girl friend, she just barely beat it there in time to knock it away. "We've got you covered captain, show Cerisier how to score in the snow!" She called back to her friend before chasing after another bludger.

They were winning with the scoring. It was like Marie-Laure knew would happen if Fiona kept out the way. Marie-Laure and Stark could score so much better without the other chaser getting in the way. With her focus on the quaffle and the snow she hadn't noticed the bludger headed her way until Paige was almost on top of her. "Thanks," she called out before finally catching sight of where the quaffle was.

Marie-Laure grabbed it and managed to score yet another goal. It was abundantly clear which team was superior in this match and Quinn's leadership style could not be anywhere near as good as her own. Marie-Laure was extremely pleased with her achievement and finishing with the cup again under her final year as Captain would really top her achievements to date.

Trent sighed in frustration. Why was nothing working right? The team got along well and everything, but it felt like there was something blocking them from going further. He hoped either himself or one of the Henrau sisters who were candidates to be captain could turn this around. Not that Quinn was a bad captain, no he was far from bad, but it was making him scream inside that there was some kind of intangible missing from the way they played the game.  Trent sighed and blinked. At some point while his body was on autopilot a familiar orb smacked against his hand. Like normal for him weeding his way between players and easily scoring a goal. He sighed. If only they could have the lead for once.

Rene was honestly getting so freaking bored. Cerisier being crap wasn't good for announcing. And he was cold. He hated being cold. He hated being bored. He hated being so bored that at least being cold was something he could acknowledge. "It is absolutely freezing today. And with as big a dud as this game is I would like it to end sooner rather than later. This is so much more playing than needed. Cerisier sucks. They really really suck. This is pointless. Can Montagnard just catch the snitch and end this? I'm cold and this is brutal today. It's more brutal than any other one I have sat through. Oh and would you look at that. Montagnard scores again."

Stark was very proud of the way him and his teammates were playing through the strong winds and the heavy snow. The other chaser didn't seem to be contributing much, though that seemed to be exactly what their captain wanted. He didn't mind though for it seemed him and Captain Sylvian could handle the scoring just fine on their own, even with the dismal weather conditions. He wasn't sure how long the game would drag on though because he knew he was having a hard time seeing the quaffle let alone the snitch.

The snitch wasn't any of his concern though so he continued to focus on the scoring for his team. He could barely contain his happiness when Montagnard got their seventh goal compared to Cerisier's two. If the strawberry blonde boy wasn't freezing cold, with his entire face a cherry red color for the bitter cold wind he would be happier than he's ever been. "Keep it up guys! We've got this game in the bag!" He called to any of his teammates nearby cheerfully.

Trent was trying not to hang his head. There was nothing he could do anymore. Hopefully Stephanie (whom he'd voted for) would whip the team into shape. Trent was basically flying around like a chicken with his head cut off. He didn't know what to do and he was cold and the quaffle hurt every time it touched his hand and felt so heavy whenever he threw it to another player. He groaned internally and ran a hand through his hair. Come on Cerisier. Please catch the snitch. Please. He flew at a Montagnard player to pop the quaffle out, and he did, but he couldn't get a hand on it.

Rene sighed as yet another burst of could air penetrated the Announcer's box. Would it be in poor taste to ask his girlfriend to come off the field and cuddle with him? Because he really wanted to do that. Fiona was always really warm and stuff. He sighed softly. Summer was warm too. Why wasn't it summer? If it was summer he could go for long walks and play in street bands and drink smoothies and be just so content in life. Though this was a scary summer. Rene had to look into apartments for after graduation and then ask Fiona to live with him which was scarier than like spiders. "Montagnard's seeker seriously needs to find the snitch and as soon as possible."

Cerisier was doing abismally and Stephanie felt the pressure upon herself mounting. She had to catch that snitch and help her team to win this match. If they lost that was it. They will have lost the cup again. She did not want that to be the case at all. The witch gripped her broom and continued to scan through the snowy wind. Then she saw it. The gold wings fluttered in the air and Stephanie was after it. This time. This time she would...miss again.

The fifth year pulled up her broom with a sigh. Her team now had no hope of winning. Even if they won at all the next match it wouldn't matter. They'd still lost the prize. She reluctantly lowered herself down to the ground not willing to face the rest of the team. What had happened to that wonderful ability back in her first year on the team? Would she ever get it back?

It seemed everyone was yelling to someone and wishing more than anything for the game to end. The teams were all flying around with wind blown, red, and raw faces. Those not wearing gloves had stinging red fingers, and those without scarfs had cold wind, and icy snow flakes flying under their collar. Thankfully she had gloves and a hat but she knew all to well the feeling of wind and snow beneath her collar. She was already predicting a hot chocolate in her future, as well as plenty of cuddling herself into a ball under covers.

The blonde was hitting any bludger in sight with as much force as her riding cold frame could muster. She was sure that a few times they head towards a player of the wrong team but it always flew off course before hitting anyone she didn't want it to. She planned on making her final year count and she was doing pretty well so far if she said so herself. Finally the whistle blew and the game was over. Montagnard had the snitch and she couldn't have been happier, though part of her was sad Quinn had yet to win a game his final year.

Christine managed to get herself upright on her broom but she was in no position to be of any use to her team and she even had to avoid bludgers hit by that girl on the other team ... again. "Stephanie," she called out to her sister, "could you please catch that fluttering ball?" The second year wasn't sure how much longer she would last but she had complete faith in her sister. She could catch the snitch.

That faith, however, was delivered another blow as yet again it was the other team's seeker who managed to catch the snitch. The moment she made it back down to the ground she made an effort to console her sister with the words, "never mind Stephanie. I am sure you will do better next game."

"And I knew you could do it again," Fiona called out to the seeker. She had thought she would be stuck up there forever or blown off her broom. Yet somehow she managed to stay. Granted she made sure not to sit up on her broom so that the wind could blow her off or that she would be an easy target for bludgers. Not that she was much of a target in the first place. Who'd go for the weakest link when the ones doing all the scoring where the ones you'd want to injure?

Thus a completely unscathed Fiona flew back down to the ground ready to face another day. "Do you think we could just forget a final match?" she asked the captain. If they couldn't then perhaps she could fake an injury and sit the next match out. That would be ideal and then Fiona could forget all about playing quidditch until next term.

No matter how hard Quinn tried, it felt like he was getting no where. Him and the other chasers managed a few goals in the poor weather, but Montagnard was so much more ahead of him. He frowned as he could only imagine the snide look on Marie-Laure's face at this point.

He thought he saw from the corner of his eye a blue and green clad dart forward and for a moment, Quinn thought the snitch was Cerisier's. He called out a few words of encouragement when he found an opportune moment to do so, but found them to be in vain, for it was too late.

The blue haired boy paused as his face slowly fell. "That's okay! It was hard conditions today. We all tried our best, right?" Quentin called to his fellow defeated Quidditch team. He was starting to think all these losses were a sign that Quidditch wasn't his thing. He wasn't ever going to make a professional team like Chris. He might've been good, but he was nothing like Chris. "This just means we need to work on it more and improve so next year you guys will bring home the cup!"

Fane rolled his eyes and pulled the blanket tighter around him as Rene blatantly ignored his offer for a bet. "Are you just tired of dealing with my shit, or are you afraid to lose?" Fane replied, disgruntled, and even more so when he heard Professor Bowen make a comment about controlling his language. "Sorry professor."

After about ten more minutes of watching in pain in the freezing cold, Fane was starting rejoice that Rene didn't take up on that bet. Somehow, everyone was keeping on their brooms pretty well. He watched with moderate interest as Montagnard's seeker caught the snitch. "And the winner is, Montagnard! Again." He was getting tired of seeing his own house lose all the time, but even more so that nothing interesting ever happened in Quidditch. No dirty play ever happened and he was starting to get bored with it. Becoming an announcer just to get in with the cute Quidditch players was starting to be a drag on the flirtatious boy.
