Bonnie and Clyde

Mabel had gotten the great idea to steal food from the kitchen. But she just needed someone to come along with her, so she'd have someone to blame if they got caught. No one was better for the job than Fane Blevins, so she cornered the older boy earlier that day and dared him to tag along. "Bet you won't," she had said to him, as soon as the words left her lips she knew he was hooked like a fish. Mabel was good with her words and knew how to use them to get her way.

So, there they were, heading toward the kitchen to steal food. Mabel had heard many rumors about a troll in the dungeon, but that didn't stop her from her goal. She did push Fane against the wall and cover his mouth at every little sound, they couldn't get caught before they even got to the food. "Come on," she whispered, she grabbed his hand and pulled him along.

Mabel looked around once more and went into the kitchen. "All clear," she whispered. It was now time for the food. Mabel wasn't very hungry, but she would stash a few items in her room. "Let's hurry."

He wasn't entirely keen on hanging out with underclassmen, but then again, Fane had no friends, so he wasn't going to be passing up opportunities much. Cornering him and threatening him with the status of coward was a bit over the top, but Fane sort of liked playing hard to get anyway. She seemed desperate for company and probably thought he was cute or something, so he played along for some time before agreeing, smoothing out his hair cooly. "If you're going to beg me, then fine," He said, and then added. "After all, I'm amazing at getting out of trouble." Occasionally. It was more of a skill he developed this year.

When he finally met up with her, he was surprised to find her acting incredibly hands on with him. She pulled him by the arm and often covered his mouth when she thought she heard a noise. She was awfully jumpy and Fane entertained the idea that this was all for her to just get closer to him. However, after a few times, he got tired of that and when she went again to cover his mouth, he licked her hand, just to piss her off and give her the idea that it wasn't acceptable.

Finally, they were at the door of their goal. Fane grinned at her concern. "Hurry? Why? You scared?" they entered the kitchen and he casually pulled n apple from the bowl of fruit looming around. He ate it while he poked through the pantry. Most of it was ingredients that had to be cooked into something before eating it, which was rather very disappointing. "Find anything that you can eat immediately?" He called to Mabel, unconcerned with anyone hearing them.

"Beg you? Ha! You know, I could always find someone else. You're lucky I chose you." If the boy was going to be cocky then she didn't want to go through with the plan with him. If he was so good as he claimed to be, they shouldn't get into any trouble. "We'll see how amazing you are."

Fane wasn't putting up with Mabel putting her hand over his mouth and showed that by licking her hand. "Gross!" She said a bit too loudly. "You're so gross!" She wiped her infected hand on his arm and glared at him. That was disgusting! "Do that again and your tongue is getting pulled."

"I'm defiantly not scared. But I don't want to stay in here longer than I have to." As she searched around the kitchen, Mabel found herself coming out empty handed. "Where's all the good food!?" She hadn't found a single good thing and it seemed like Fane was having the same trouble. "I can't find anything." Just as she was about to open the last cabinet, a sudden noise stopped her. Had they been caught? Were they going to get in trouble? Mabel seemed to freeze in place, not sure what to do.

Fane scoffed. Mabel was so stuck on herself as he had learned her to be. Sometimes it was just plain funny to him. "Sure, whatever you say." She was a first year who was still learning the ways of the school and her way to classes. Of course she was more nervous than he was!

He ate the apple to it's core and dropped it nonchalantly into a trash can, causing a clang as it collided with the empty container and echoed around the kitchen. He saw Mabel freeze with the noise, which made Fane snort. "Relax! I just threw out my apple!"

He moved to the back of the kitchen and found a door. "What do you suppose is behind there?" He asked her, though not really expecting an answer. "I'm hoping for better food!" He asked and reached for the handle. It felt cold to the touch and sure enough, inside was much chillier. A freezer! And what was that? Ice cream! Freshly made. He took a container for himself and handed one to Mabel. "You're welcome."

"Stop making so much noise, idiot. You're gonna get us caught." Sure she was nervous about getting caught, but she was more irritated with the boy more than anything. She should have found someone else to come with her, at least she thought that before Fane found ice cream. At least one of them had found something good. She rolled her eyes but took the ice cream anyways. "Thanks." She found two spoons and gave one to her partner in crime.

She opened the container and dug her spoon into the ice cream. "At least one of us found something good," she said before popping the spoonful into her mouth. It tasted like berries and vanilla. "Tastes good," she said after swallowing the ice cream.

Fane couldn't help himself. Without any nerves to hold him back, he was having the time of his life and when Mabel told him to shut up, he replied loudly with, "What did you say?" he laughed as he then accepted the spoon from the girl and began to dig in to his own ice cream.

Through a mouthful of ice cream, he grinned at Mabel's comment about one of them at least finding something good. "Told you I was good at these sort of things!" He bragged and then swallowed the ice cream. "You know what this needs? Cookies."

With tub of ice cream in one hand and spoon in mouth, Fane ventured back towards the back of the kitchen. He had just lifted a cookie jar off of the shelf when suddenly a door opened. Framed in the light from the open doorway, the spoon dropped from his newly opened mouth and hit the floor with a clang. "Mabel, we've got company," He called to his partner in crime and then offered a smile to the professor who was glaring down at him as he racked his brain for a quick way out.

"Are you trying to get us caught, idiot?" She rolled her eyes at the boy. He was defiantly an idiot for being so loud. There was no telling who could be near. "You're so stupid." She wasn't about to get in trouble for his loud mouth and if she did, she was going to say it was all his idea and he forced her to go along with it. "And you're full of yourself."

When the door opened, Mabel had the urge to run and hide. But it was too late. Even if the professor hadn't seen her, they would have known she was here because of Fane calling out her name. She gave the boy a hard shove then looked up at the professor. "It was all his idea! I swear! He forced me to come with him!" She glared at the boy. "You should really be more quiet." She was beyond pissed at him and she was never going to do something like this with him ever again. "I'm not entirely sure who he is either," she turned back to the professor.

"It takes one to know one," Fane replied, smiling to himself as he helped himself to some night time sweets. He had gotten comfortable and too comfortable that when they had gotten caught, he was genuinely surprised. Looking at Mabel, he could tell she wanted to run, but she didn't and Fane grinned. She'd learn in time that detention wasn't too bad.

He was surprised at the words that came out of her mouth in response to the Professor. His eyebrows raised and then dropped and his smile found it's way back onto his face again. She wanted to use him, that's why she had brought him there. That was cunning, he would admit. Very admirable. There was only one problem with her plan.

"She's desperate to get out of trouble," Fane replied, keeping his attitude cool. "Look at me. 4'9" un-athletic and only twelve years old. There is no way that I could've forced her to come here. I don't have the physique to carry her or the talent in magic to force her to come here. She came by her own will. But maybe you should take it easy on her, being only a first year," Fane relayed to the Professor. He left out the part that it was actually entirely opposite to what Mabel claimed. That it was her idea and he was the one suckered down here. He'd take that hit, but she'd suffer with him still.

Mabel couldn't believe the boy, was he covering up for her? After she had just thrown him under the bus and said that he had forced her to come along on this trip? This boy must have been stupid. "I'm not desperate." That was the only thing she could say, she had no clue what else to say. Did she owe him now? If he thought that then he must have been stupid. Even if he did lie to help her, she was not going to owe him any favors. "I...can I at least finish my ice cream?" She said with a smirk, she hoped the professor would get mad at her little statement. "I think we at least deserve that before we get shipped off to detention, don't you think?"

Before her partner in crime could reply back to her, Mabel dipped her spoon into her ice cream and stuck it into her mouth. If she was going to go down, she was going to do it her way.
