What the Water Gave Me Empty What the Water Gave Me

Though the indoor garden of the school which Persepbone passed through everyday to go to and fro her common room was splendid, nothing beat the actual outdoors. When homework had been completed, and often times even when it hadnt, Persephone enjoyed spending most of her free time outdoors, no matter what the weather. She liked to try to imagine going on an adventure and though the grounds were pretty flat and shrubless, Percy managed to produce imaginary things all the well.

"O' great kelpie! I shall ride your back! But please don't eat me! I promise I do not taste well at all!" Percy bartered, lost within her own game. She bowed down by the shore side, showing utter respect towards the imaginary kelpie. "Perhaps a more vegetarian diet would suit you better?" She offered, plucking a dandylion from the ground and offering it out to the air. She let the flower drop and petted the about of the creature, thinking nothing of it until she saw a figure from the corner of her eye.

She jumped and turned to face the only other soul by the lake. Her shocked face lasted for a moment before it softened and she smiled. "You're just in time! The kelpie is going to let us ride its back!"

What the Water Gave Me Empty Re: What the Water Gave Me

Linette loved the situation of her Commonroom. No boring commonroom in the palace like her parents before her had. Nope. She lived in a treehouse. A very large treehouse. Thinking of that lead her to wonder which house Louise would end up in if Linette's mission of thwart sister's plans failed. Hopefully not Casavant with her. Linette wanted to be the only one in her family in that house.

Right now though the outdoors were too nice to stay indoors. She picked up the latest book she'd borrowed from the school library and hurried down to the lake. What better place was there to read than there. Not counting the beach back home of course. That was the best place. The lake at Beauxbatons though was a good second.

The book though was completely forgotten as she watched a younger girl at the lake edge in amusement. The other girl's explanation brought a grin to her mouth as she noted the non-existent kelpie. Now this was good and Linette didn't have to be told to use her imagination. "It is?" she asked before bowing to the imaginary kelpie herself. "Thank you oh kelpie for this great honour."

Persephone was glad that the other girl decided to play along with her game, and that was without her asking the details of it, either. The Prideux tried to keep her uncontrollable smile at bay as she watched the girl bow to the kelpie and then went over to whisper something in the girl's ear, out of the hearing of the imaginary kelpie. "Beware," She started, her tone attempting one of mystique. "I tried bartering with it, but I think it might eat us if we are not careful." She pulled away with wide eyes and nodded her head seriously. Kelpie's were dangerous creatures that often ate the passengers that rode on their backs. Persephone was educated. She was also an adventurer.

Finding a sizely boulder by the lake's shore, Percy made a kelpie of it. By draping plants across the top to form a mane, it make pretending all the easier, and after patting the mane of the beast, Persephone mounted it. "C'mon!" She called to the other girl. "We're about to depart!" She scooped up to make room for the other girl and then began swaying on her seat on the kelpie-boulder, simulating waves for herself. What was once the silver lake was now a storming sea and where they were to go next, only their imaginations could say.

Linette nodded at the warning seriously. "So we have to be careful to not offend it or anything right?" Such a dangerous undertaking but she was more than ready to participate in a risky activity. Her book she was sure would be safe a short distance from the shore of the lake. Even in the midst of playing this game she was a little aware of the dangers of facing the school librarian if the book got wet.

The boulder draped in plants was believable enough for Linette and she was eager to begin the game. The second year didn't have to be told twice as she took her place on the kelpie-boulder behind the other girl. Her sways didn't quite match the same pattern as the first year but it was close enough to suit her imaginings. She tapped the girl on the shoulder. "What's that on the horizon?"

Persephone nodded. Though being polite was not a guarantee that they wouldn't get eaten, it wouldn't hurt in the slightest to throw out a few 'p's' and 'q's' as if they were flat out rude to the creature, they would most certainly be turned into its lunch. She was glad that the girl was following along with all this without asking too many questions. She was proving to be a very decent adventuring partner.

The pair set sail on the back of the imaginary kelpie rock. Persephone held close to the 'neck' of the kelpie as she did everything in her power to stay on. The sea was moody and misbehaving, but that would be the least of their problems as Percy's adventuring partner pointed off in the distance.

Persephone's eyes averted to the horizon and widened. "Why, it's a ship!" Percy gasped. Perhaps fellow adventurers and friends? Though the flag that Persephone imagined strung up on the ship's post and waving in the wind proved the ship as a foe. "Pirates!" Persephone squealed. She nudged at the kelpie to redirect it's swimming. If the pirates knew where they were going, they'd try to stop them for sure!

Linette was pleased to find someone who was good at not only playing imaginary games but also good at coming up with them. She always found that part a bit of a struggle. Her creativity only went so far.

Staying on the back of a kelpie was quite the challenge as Linette found out. The waves made it difficult to keep still. She made a strangled coughing sound which she imagined would be the reaction to finding seawater splashed in your face and into your mouth.

"A pirate ship?" Linette cried in panic. "Come on honoured kelpie. If the pirates find you they will do horrible things to you." She pictured the kelpie moving away from the pirate ship as fast as it could. Linette then looked behind her before reporting to her companion. "I think we've outrun it." They were safe for now but what danger would they come to or rather come up with next? There was, after all, no point playing an adventure game without having points of danger.

Her arm's wrapped around the protruding front of the rock, as if hanging onto the kelpie's neck with all her might as she imagined the beast picking up speed in order to escape the enemy. Persephone took a glance behind her, imagining the pirate ship on their tail, yet slowly fading into the scene behind them. "Yes! Good! We are outrunning the scoundrels!" Merlin knew what would have happened if the pirates had caught them. She imagined the kelpie would be taken and sold for a handsome price, a sad ending to the great beast's life.

With great fortune, the pair of adventurers had managed to rid themselves of the imaginary pirates. Persephone squealed with laughter as she finally found themselves safe of that danger. "That could've been a lot worse!" She remarked, patting the side of the kelpie. Instead of a whinny (the noise Persephone imagined a kelpie would make) the creature huffed in dissatisfaction. She had thought that they had befriended the creature. Why was it sounding so distressed? Her answer had come with the aversion of her eyes.

Focusing on the sky rather than where the water met the shore, Persephone saw what the problem was. "Harpies!" She shouted, pointing up to the sky where she imagined three bird-woman monsters screeched from above. "Three of them and they are looking for lunch!" Lunch, of course, meant them; Persephone and the other girl. Her green eyes widened with horror as she looked to her companion for help.
